Canon Photography Group

http://forums.canonphotogroup.com/index.php

runs on vBulletin Version 3.6.8

but it has no where near the traffic as dpReview.

Also found -

Canon Digital Photography Forums - Powered by vBulletin

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/

This seems to have quite a bit of traffic

http://photo.net is not vBulletin but it's similar enough that you can probably stand it. They wrote their own software in the early days of web forums. At least it has threads.... Basically it's a stripped down version of Bladeforums with no avatars, sigs, smileys, or advanced text features like fonts and colors.

There are a lot of places to talk about cameras. At photonet you can talk about photography.

thanks for the links, the canon digital site and the photo.net place seem to be right what i am looking for

I strongly recommend staying away from Photo.net. The owner and Editor in Chief, Philip Greenspun, behaves irresponsibly toward his site members and as a steward over the intellectual property they provide. He has banned people without legitimate reason, boldly posted libelous notes on people's member pages, deleted posts and entire threads willy-nilly, forcibly kept people's pictures on his site against the terms of agreement and against copyright law, kept people's money that he was not entitled to... You get the idea.

In fact, there are at least two forums for defectors from Photo.net.

The PN Dissident Café:

http://flickr.com/groups/pndissidentcafe/

Uncensored Leica Forum In Exile:

http://www.flickr.com/groups/ulfie/

Read through some of the oldest threads in those groups to find out more of the stuff I'm talking about.
