I apologize just small annoyance, I am on dialup and when members put photolinks rather than upload pics . I can't view them. It takes to long and reloads are needed. Does this affect anyone's experience? . If you use links why?

I use link to my photobucket because of the size of the picture display in threads. Uploads show up so tiny, then I end up having to spend alot of time enlarging them, and I can't scroll through as quickly.

Hey man, I had dial up for YEARS, I thought I was the last one left, but apparently not. :) Highspeed isn't that bad cost wise now, maybe look into upgrading.

Not available . I'm in a dead zone. Verizon doesn't offer anything here. The Boonies , If I go to town I have access to wifi. I've experienced it once. I compare it to driving a speed boat and I'm doing the doggy paddle with 2 broken legs and my hands tied behind my back. lets just say I'm the last one to dinner. I like surfing the web but anymore its a real waste of time.

To me, dialup is unacceptable. I do too much on the web. Until recently, I used Hugesnet which is a satellite internet system as I live in a mountain cabin at 8000 ft and had no other access. Some good and some bad about it, but vastly superior to dialup in every way. More expensive, but worth it.

I use links because it provides a larger, more detailed picture than the site photo loader.

Sorry about your problem. As I said, it is one that I can sympathize with. BTW, you know that non-paid members have to use links, right? They have no choice...

My work depends on larger clear images. Having the forum software resize them is unacceptable to me.

It's now 2014, When I started 640x480 was asked for in forums for your reasons. That's gone by-by. Dial up probably constitutes 3-5% of internet users? THat's being generous. So, to cater to this small sector is the 'tail wagging the dog', so to speak.

If you want to read the posts and forget about the pics, just let it load a couple of seconds and hit the browser's X button to stop. Then you can at least scroll and read what's being said without the consistent loading delay.

I wish you faster loading! I'm spoiled here in the northeast with crazy cable bandwidth.

I was offline from May to Dec and really didn't miss it. Dial up has reminded me why. My desire for information sometimes comes at a big waste of time, I will have to look into some type of satellite connection .

I appreciate the comments guys. I did manage to buy what I had trouble viewing. , after 30 mins of reloading I finally got close enough to see the thumbnails. I don't dare when on photobucket click on an image. Getting it to load has yet to happen. Even if viewing my own library. Its like it all gets lost in translation. Who am I to complain though. Life surely could be worse.

Saintly. I didn't know that about the membership and images.

thanks

I slid this over to Tech Support, it might be more useful to folks here. I had dial up in 1995-2000. Cable was not readily available in the area I was in at the time so, 14.4K was about the best I could get. But, I had a really good modem in my PC, and lived fairly close to the nearest trunk so it was as bad as it could have been. There are plenty of providers from cellular to satellite. Just have to dig into the options. I will say that cellular is an expensive choice for what you actually get. The speed is not much to brag about, and the cost can be restrictive to many.
