Picked up my first one yesterday a rred one and I am impressed. I originally wanted a white one but they were sold out. Is the white light much brighter than the red?

I would say white is brighter, but the biggest advantage is the ability to see color. If you like the red you will really like the white.

Has anyone gotten the "covert" Photon yet? What is your impression of them over the regular model? Does the beam shine further, or just in a more compact beam? Triple Aught has them for $13.95. Looks like a good price to me.

The covert is a Photon I with a hood around the LED. It has no on/off switch like the Photon II.

The white is my favorite (electrical cables are color coded), but I am hoping for a PII covert (with a switch).

I have both the white and the red. I got the red first on the theory that red will not destroy your night vision. The first time I used it walking out of my stand after dark I was a little disappointed. I got the white one and it was much brighter. Thankfullly I get them at cost. The red would be great for LE work though because of the night vision. BTW my wife has a yellow one and it is about the same as the red.
