It has been raining quite a bit lately so instead of stressing about rust on my A2 blades I reached for this one, the 500 in 440C, instead. It is nice to not really give the rust potential another thought on a rainy day like today as I was out for most of the morning and didn't wipe it off once.
As for chopping, the mass of a 1Lb 12oz knife really plows through the wood!
I may have mentioned it before but the grip on Jeremy's knives, even this beast, are just incredibly ergonomic. They make me think of a custom made orthotic, but in the form of a knife handle custom fit to your hand.

Great pics of a cool knife maine. I would be more worried about the camera getting wet, than the knife. :o

Lol!

Someday fug, you will have to let me in on where you come up with all of your graphics.

.
Thanks guys, for all the input.

trog, I was gonna take the pics using an umbrella but it slowed to a drizzle and I was able to get these without it.

The other thing I forgot to mention is how much grip the canvas gives when wet, just amazing!

ShaaaaaZaaaaaaaaaaaam!

Damn fine pics of a damn fine looking knife:thumbup: Is it too late to get in on the pass around :D

Super pics!!
Your pics have inspired me, tomorrow I will try to post my 1st pics(May god help us,,,,,,,,,"Would you like to play a game?" lol:D

Those are great pics Peppercorn! I love the shape of the handle and grips on that blade. Jerm continues to improve his skill set.

Thanks large and rutmio!

After using the ffbm most of the spring , summer and fall for all kinds of chopping I just can't say enough for how much more , ergo, Jeremy's grips are for my hand. I was continually getting blisters, especially on my index finger and thumb, as a consequence.

Shock absorption is another subject I haven't covered. I noticed that there is absolutely no perceivable vibration when chopping with this knife! And after a couple of hours of chopping that becomes a major factor in overall usability.

I hear ya... I was chopping with a cgfbm on a farm last weekend. I need to modify or have the grips changed for optimal performance. Never chopped with a Horton yet, but I'll have a biggie within a year. Looking forward to tryin it out.

I don't really fully understand the vibration, whether it's the 440C or the thickness of the steel or the slab/handle design or something else altogether. I just thought it was cool that it wasn't there.

That's cool you are going to be getting a big one. What are you getting?
