I have just heard about Chuck Karwan and his modifications to a Kabar, yet cannot find any photos of those. Could anyone post some photos of his mods here?

Chuck normally drilled a lanyard hole in the butt cap and if it was one of the round handle USMC type knives, he reshaped the leather to more of a oval profile. He also like to treat the handle and sheath with bee's wax.

Mine has the lanyard hole in the butt cap, and the handle seems oval as is. I will try to find out how to treat with bees wax. Sho wish I could find a pic of one of his knives, yet they seem to be non-existent

They did an article about the Next Generation Ka-Bar Fighting/Utility knife (Mark 2s) in Tactical Knives magazine in the mid-1990s.

I recall also seeing a Chuck Karwan article with pictures of the modifications that he had done to standard Mark 2s.

I have heard about those articles yet have been unable to locate a copy. still tryin

I did a similar mod to the guard of an old, well worn, but not abused Camillus. I heard about this in an issue of Tactical Knives some time ago (not all that long ago like 2 years), and only had like 15 bucks in the knife. I feel it adds to the usefulness of the knife, allow me to rest my thumb atop the grip. I might try some of the other Karwan mods as well. Very cool thread.
