I took roughly 4,000 shots on the trip - despite the fact that the parks were closed for most of the trip.

The following shots are a sample of the shots taken. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.

Please let me know what you think; which shots you really like and which shots are so-so. I'm considering many of these shots for my portfolio, so your input is needed and appreciated.

Thanks for sharing these!

I have been waiting patiently for them.

They are all fantastic photos, but a few stick out to me more than others.
The pickup in Nebraska is great, the first Wyoming photo with the sheep (goat) looks almost surreal. A fantastic photo.

The mountain ranges are beautiful, and I really like the contrast in the first photo of Devil's Tower.

Sunset at the Badlands is a great one, too.
I could go on and on, but those are a few that struck me.

I still can't believe how beautiful the Badlands were. Almost like walking around on another planet.

I like the black and white shots, and the wildlife ones the best. The old truck reminds me of the time right after I got out of high school, when my best friend and I drove west looking for old cars. I found my 39 Ford coupe in the middle of a field just like that one.

Wonderful stuff! Thanks for posting. Love all the sky drama.

Beautiful pictures! Thank you for sharing them with us!

Thanks for sharing the pics!
I like the ones were it's snowing best because I love to be in the woods when the snow is falling.

As someone with no experience or expertise I liked this ones best, I think, it's a hard call they're all very good

though I have to admit actually caught a smell (a scent) when looking at this one,. seems like it's vivid enough to engage my nose somehow whcih is pretty impressive

I felt this one is missing "something", but what do I know

i also liked the pictures during snow but they're no as clear as the others, couldn't decide if that meant i liked them less or more then anything else, i did like staring at them though :)

Fine group of photos. Since they don't have numbers by them it's hard to describe each one I like. The first one in the thread, the sheep and buffalo, the first Tower pic, the first mountains pic, the close up of Mt Rushmore are a few of the ones that resonated with me.

I liked the entire Wyoming series. Have never been there, but will now add it to my bucket list. Question: were the photos taken all across the State or were these taken in a particular region? Thanks for showing us parts of the country we may not get to ourselves.

Thank you to everyone who commented. I did go back and edit the posts so the pictures are numbered. I should have done that when I posted them, but forgot to do so.

My favorite of the bunch is #38

I really like the colors and the surreal feeling it invokes (for me anyway). I think that shot does the best job of conveying the odd beauty that is the badlands.

For me, the following are good shots but not quite as good as #38

#3 - the old pickup. I love shots like this and it speaks to me for several reasons; mostly because it reminds me of the Midwest's farming history, but also because it was shot on my Uncle's farm.

#8 - I like the road way down below and the water body off in the distance. I also like the sense of remoteness and the feeling of freedom I get when viewing it.

#9 - Medicine Wheel. This shot isn't up to par with the others I've picked (not in my mind anyway) but I love it anyway. It is a sacred Indian place and I tied a piece of cloth around one of the ropes to honor a good friend who had died earlier in 2013 (he was a full blood Souix Indian and one of the best people I've ever known). The view was incredible but it was so cold and windy that holding still was a problem.

#14 - To me there is something very powerful about this shot. It makes me feel very small - in a good way.

#15 - Similar to the feeling I get with #14 above. I also like the angles involved and the remnants of the fence. Makes me wonder how long it took to put that fence in (very steep and very rocky).

#18 - I love the colors in this one and think it does a good job of showing how big the sky is in the Midwest.

#26 - I just love mountains and shots like this.

#31 - I love the colors and the cragged formations. I also like the way the Sagebrush contrasts with the stark uprising of the mountain.

#34 - The Needles. Just an awesome place. I think this shot does a good job of representing one of my favorite places in the world.

#41 - I love the colors here; especially the bands of color in the sediment and the glow from the grass.

I concur - I think #38 is the best shot of the bunch.

The Courthouse picture probably should not have made it in this bunch. It holds meaning to me, but that's because it is the courthouse in the small town that I grew up in. It is more of a snapshot type of shot.

I like the snow shots as well, but with I had taken the time to set up the tripod and used a slightly slower shutter speed. It was really cold and my friend wanted to continue on, so I just jumped out of the truck and took a few shots. When I go back, it'll be by myself so I can take all the time I want.

A bit all over the state; traveling from east to west. The biggest mountains were the Tetons (near Jackson, WY). Many of the other shots were taken near Pahaski Teepee (just outside the eastern entrance to Yellowstone). Devil's tower is further east and the canyon shots are between it and Pahaski Teepee.

The parks were all closed by the time we got to Wyoming, so the best opportunities for spectacular shots were missed. I had hoped to get some good shots of Grizzly bears and Bald Eagles, but never had the opportunity to even try.

Cool shots! I like 1, 24 and 26. I'd crop a little off the bottom on 1, put the horizon line about a bit lower. My favorite is 24, composition, color and subject are great!

such great pics tahts. i appreciate them all.

for me, 8 & 10 are great. big country.

16, 17 and 18 are something. both the lines and colors really pop.

and 28 looks like an old western painting. i love it.

i'm surprised i am not commenting on the big mountain photos, or the rivers for that matter. but honestly, i see so many of those.

i went back and looked again to pick my favs.
1) #28...one of those i just can't get out of my head. one that i could just stare at. surreal.
2) #18 with the red lines to the horizon

good stuff man. thanks for sharing.

Frankly, I'm blown away by your photos. Seriously. Great job and thanks for sharing. Quick question, in line with KY English's thread on "if you could move anywhere", did you have a favorite place on your trip, somewhere where you would not hesitate moving to? (I know, it's tough to leave NJ, but if you could).....

Great shots, 9 is my favorite, I'm always partial to pictures that make me stop and look closer. I love trying to figure out the story behind an image like that. Also makes me want to visit the location! Thank you for sharing!!
