The first photo is the only, ''before'' and all the rest are after. I never try to get rid of the machine marks as, not only would it be labor intensive, but they really are a big part of what a Horton knife is. After spending a few hours sanding on one of these blades I really appreciate, more and more, the, ''machinist'' origin in them.

Pepper, that is amazing. Wow, just amazing.

Pepper, you have skills. Beautiful finish and beautiful photography.

What's the process? Time consuming? The satinized versions look good.

Thanks for all the enthusiastic feedback, you guys are great!

Guyon,
Yes, it is time consuming as it is all done with a sanding block by hand. I start with 100 grit wet/dry and work it till I get rid of all unwanted patterns and have an even continuous sractch pattern. Next I work it the same with 220, then 400 and on Brian's Proto chopper I finished with 600.

Do you do the same direction on all, or do you alternate between grits?
