I really haven't had time to form an impression yet but the initial thoughts are positive.

Great pics! That red bone looks real nice. I've been tempted by the 12 pattern ever since seeing some shots of it here by other members. Keep us posted.

nice toothpick; gec seems to have taken the traditional toothpick design and made it their own, putting their special touches on it

Nice first GEC. That pattern should make for a nice pocket friendly and useful single blade knife.

For future reference jwh ...
> Tidioute has issued the #12 with two blade patterns (the muskrat clip or the clip)
> Northfield has issued the #12 with the same two blade patterns (and the saber grind muskrat clip) both featuring the classic Northfield "swedge" (muskrat clip pictured above) I've never seen a Northfield saber grind but there may be one out there.
Both blade styles have their supporters - I'm a GEC toothpick/powderhorn guy so I like all of them. When buying on-line pay close attention to the slope of the swedge and you won't be suprised when the knife is delivered.

Fantastic knife - that red bone really "sings". The pictures are great and really do justice to this knife.

Nice red. GEC does great red. Every Case I've recently purchased, that's been advertised as red, usually looks a little too pink.

Thanks folks, I do like the Red.

@bigfattyt / my first Northfield but not my first GEC

@qncygnnr / Thanks for the additional information.

@tonystl / I have had good luck with the Case Pocket Worn Red and Dark Red.

I don't have a good pic right now, but I have a Northfield burnt stag #12 with the muskrat clip which is sabre ground.
Built in 2009.
