I stopped by the Chris Reeve Knives booth at the SHOT Show today, and managed to fondle the new Neil Roberts knife. Wow! I like it a lot. I am glad that I have one on order. The blade length is six inches, and the material, of course, is S30V. Here are some photos I took of it:

I also had a chance to take a photo of Anne Reeve. She was very pleasant to speak with.

I like the knife but, as for the Green Beret, I wish they would tapper the tang, and the blade. This is of course a personal view, but I found the Green Beret heavy. I initially bought it as a pack knife, and quite frankly I don't think many infantry personnel would choose to carry it. The GB is superiorly well made - but it's too heavy IMHO. I chose to sell it and buy - well something else. I also find a nice tapper esthetically pleasing and a mark of quality. My EDC is a small Sebenza, and I would have loved to add a CRK fixed blade for EDH (Every Day Hiking).

I also think the handle would be more comfortable if the handle slabs were flush with the tang. In fact, I would like a through tang better, as the micarta is much more comfortable to touch in very hot or very cold weather. I can only imagine how hot this exposed black tang must be getting if the knife is worn on a belt exposed to sunlight in a place like Iraq. It sure looks nice though.

I was able to snap a photo of Anne and Chris this morning. Anne is holding a Neil Roberts knife.

Thanks for the cool post, Ken. Anne looks as pleasant as her emails and conversations. Great looking couple for sure.

That Neil Roberts knife is a beauty!

That's a sweet looking CRK... Is it a limited addition, or will they be adding it to their regular line-up?

I received my Neil Roberts knife today. Its birth card states that it was made on 02/10/2005, which was last Thursday. I am very pleased.

Please post your impressions.

One thing that strikes me positively about the Neil Roberts model is that it doesn't have serrations. The combo edge on the green beret knife really put me off.

Got my hands on one from the same batch. Sweet knife!
