How 'bout a thread for photos of traditionals that tell a story. They don't have to be your pics, maybe post something you stumble across while surfing online. Bonus points for photos that include more than just a knife.

Here's one I came across at www.floridamemory.com, a site maintained by the state library and archives of Florida.

The notes indicate it was taken in North Miami Beach, Fla. in 1994, and say, "Isaac Duenas, a Cuban-American from North Miami Beach, makes farolas, gigantes, and rooster figures to celebrate the holiday honoring La Virgen de la Candelaria, the patron saint of San Antonio de las Vueltas, Cuba."

Hard to imagine all the stories this knife could tell!

I really like that 1950's Craftsman chest.

They were contract built by Union, some time before Union stopped making wooden tool chests in 1953. The Union chests sell for significantly less than Gerstner, and even their own made Craftsman line, so good deals are still out there.

My brother gave me this one, full of knives, after I lusted after it for many years. I of course lightly refinished it, some oak chests you just have to leave the character in them, the battle scars of a life well lived.

In this picture the Craftsman is on top, beneath that is a Union I had to make a front cover for from scratch, this is before I sent the locks off to be keyed.

Very cool.
The heritage logo started in 1950, so that would mean these were only made for 3 years.

My daughter Alyssa grew up on the ranch. She's always been a take charge and get thing done kind of gal. Notice there's a big strapping young man watching her carry that ice chest full of medicines for a branding:

She was ready to go anytime and darn near anywhere:

She excelled at the groundwork side of things not only giving the shots but the securing of the calves which can be very physical and tough.

She could be a one girl wrecking crew:

She also could handle the other groundwork jobs at a branding:

So it was the night of her first date, I think she was 15 if I remember right. A fine young man from town had asked her to a formal at school. He's there at the house waiting to pick her up and ya know how girls got to do one more thing with their hair, so mom and I are talking with him. Mom had printed out those last three pics and were showing them to him. She says: "Do you know what Ally is doing there?". He kinda gulps and says "it looks like she's castrating something." Mom says "Remember that, see ya about eleven." Ally was ready.

We did too. We saw them at eleven.

Dave, that first one with the ice chest I thought, "why does that girl have shorts on under chaps? That seems weird." Then I realized. Lol

I too have a one girl wrecking crew, but she's only 7. Good on ya to not shelter the girls and treat them differently. I grew up row crop, not cattle, but everyone works if they want to eat.
