Got to thinking that with the satin finish available on the standard TB, home-grown mods with a basic grinder or even sandpaper would be a snap. Daydreaming a little more produced the following, each with a little more taken away than the last. I used the sample photo in urban gray because it's the closest to a straight-on side profile I could find--the others all exaggerate blade length to an even greater degree.

Likey, No likey?

No offense, but I think Busse is the better knife designer... :D

I personally don't really like the looks of the scalloped spine, so I like the version without the scallops. I've still bought way too much steel recently, so would have to sit the tankbuster out, even if I did have the skill to mod it.

I also think I liked 3 out of 4, but I also like spine scallops too, so either way is great with me.

No tank buster, or any new releases for me. I will have some serious catching up to do when I finally have some spending cash in the next decade or so.

Hey Will... nice work! You have read my mind. I considered buying one and doing the exact same thing.

Can you do one like the last one, but without the choil?

I'd like to see that.

Here's a quick-and-dirty version (my specialty):

I actually don't care for the scallops and along with being tapped for way too much steel lately, the scallops along with personally prefering my modified SJTAC much more are the three main reasons for skipping out on the TB.

The modified version removing the scallop is interesting. But, I still prefer my modified SJTAC.

Great work WY

Let's see a TB with a swedge and NO choil... There are no pics of that combo yet.

The TB with choil doesn't translate that well to the no-choil, at least with my meager Photoshop skills--I did the one three posts up from this one only to give a rough impression. There is some difference in blade width and also at the edge/guard juncture. Probably best to leave that one alone and let Jerry post an original, so I don't confuse anyone. The stuff I've done so far is obviously not stock from Busse, so I'm hoping no one would care.

Thanks,
Will

Nice work mate, what about carrying the straight/flat spine through to the tip? have it like a an old school Busse?

Starts to resemble the SJTAC from whose loins it was spawned originally, I assume. The straightness of the line leaves something to be desired, but the angle starts shaving into the logo if it's held straight. Still, you can get an idea.
