Phrase search issue?

It appears that Phrase searches do not work here? I was trying to search for "CF micarta" and it returns results with just the word micarta. Thinking CF was possibly too short a word, I also tried "CF* micarta", same results. Then I tried "phrase search" and that returns results with just the word search... so this is apparently not working?

As far as I can tell, the BF search engine joins words with OR instead of and. So if you ask for "carbon steel", it will return any post containing either the word "carbon" OR the word "steel". So searching on a phrase does not work well.

In contrast, Google uses an AND to join words in a phrase, so that narrows the results. Each result has to have all the words in it.

For searching phases, I use Google advanced search and limit the search to the site www.bladeforums.com.

Thanks for the Google advice. I guess I should mention though, that the board FAQ on searching should be corrected, since it states:

Phrase
Wrapping keywords in quotes will allow you to search for literal phrases.
Example: "hello world"
