One of Bailey's two MS test folders...thanks to Coop for the great photo.

I tried to photograph this one on my own and came up wanting. The bluing is incredibly deep and the surface is highly polished. Without a lot of skill, correct lighting, filters, lenses, and a whole lot of other stuff I can't even think of, capturing this is an exercise in futility. My hat is off to Coop...

That is a gorgeous piece - and only the second Bradshaw MS test knife I have seen. Congrats on a great grab.

Roger

I have actually owned this knife for some time and posted pics of it before...but my photos are so bad they're probably unrecognizable compared to this one. ;) This knife deserves to be properly documented so I'm glad Coop agreed to take on the project.

Wow. Just look at the detail of the horns, how Bailey folds them in the curl. Wish I could see this in person.

Actually there's more detail in the head as well, it's just impossible to capture in a photo (though Coop did manage to show hints of it). Somehow Bailey got a holographic-like hamon effect in that inlay. Hold it at any single particular angle and you can't see the whole thing.

Maybe I should take a video of it or something.

Thanks for the photo Coop and Aaron!!

The detail on the Kudu is done in bulino. The nature of the beast is the detail only shows when the light is at the correct angle to NOT reflect back out of the dots.

The lock on this folder is similar to an axis lock, but the release is on the spine rather than the side of the frame.

Rehoboth has my other MS test folder. Here is a pic

Got a new digicam yesterday (Canon SX110IS) and it has amazing macro capabilities compared to my past compact digicams. Thought I'd take a shot at capturing the kudu and lock in natural light (only lighting I have here in AZ).

Great looking knife. Bailey, the use of ink would help the visibility in poor lighting. I use etching ink in my work, being it will pick up in every minute scratch. I know some purist of bulino frown on the use of ink, but it is hard to enjoy the engraving work, if you cannot see it. -Brian

Nicely done, Aaron. THAT'S what is really going on in that folder.

Walking away in shame.... ;)

Coop

Aaron,

Nice follow up. Coop did a great job as usual but the outline of the gold inlay left me wondering. The closeup cleared it all up, fine job by Bailey. Must feel good owning such a nice piece, congrats...

Is this he Self Lock (Sawby) or is it different? Its an increadable folder, the bluing is beautiful, the engraving is amazing. This folder is a centerpiece. Aaron those pic's are great. You're going to give Coop some competition.
