(Pic Heavy) Got a new BK-9. Cut some things + Stripped!

A package from Tomars arrived yesterday (ordered on Monday...wicked fast std. shipping!) with a new BK-9 and FFG BK-16. I played with the 9 most of the day yesterday and then she stripped for me! My BK-14, and BK-16 also dropped their slick black clothes as well.

When I got it first thing I did was stick it into some wood. An oak barrel of wine was my victim.

First thing I used it for was opening some corks

Then I saw some pesky bushes that needed to be cut

The 9 made short work of everything. The baby goats moved in to eat the newly trimmed bushes after I was done.

Split some kindling for a fire

Handles removed. Have a strange grind mark on my 9 much like somebody else posted up on the forums here recently. It does't really bother me as long as its not structural.

And all done. The new BK16 was a pain to strip. Maybe I didn't leave the compound on long enough.

Thanks everybody for all the knowledge.

The links to your "family portraits" didn't show up as pictures because you need to add the
tags to the links.

Interesting that the "new" coat was hard to remove chemically, because it is a royal b*tch to take off with the sandblaster, also, compared to the old stuff.

Great pictures, I also have a 9,2,16, and 14 (and recently added a 15 and 11) nice choices! That makes me want to strip my 9.

Great looking nine. Best big knife value on the planet.

grind ramp....add choil...that is all, carry on

grind ramp....never ever add choil...that is all, carry on

I agree with Trade 200%

I like the Winery pics, Looks fun! I dont like drinking wine but have always been interested in the process of creating wine.

I ordered both a 16 and a 9 at the same time. I love the 9 so much that I have barely even picked up the 16 since I stripped it. The BK9 is a truly badass knife for $75. Its far more nimble in the hand then I assumed it would be and without the paint its kinda stunning ;).

Next I want to get a better sheath for it. I really want some Skystorm leather but because of the added weight (and the fact that I live in the rainforest) I'm looking closer at kydex. I was drooling over a Godspeed BK9 kydex rig I saw on the forums here a few days ago.

Thanks Thrill. I'm humbled by that. :o

LOL! I am truly looking forward to meeting you next Thursday! You bring a certain style to the forum that is unrivaled. I can't wait to get a few Black&Tans in you and sit back and listen to ya go!
