Went on a short day hike with my special lady friend, Jessica, and our Lab-Mix pup, Ellie, around the "lake" at Wall Doxey State Park in Mississippi - not too far from Red Banks. We live in Memphis, but Wall Doxey is only about 45 minutes away. It was a great day. Besides one older man fishing, we were the ONLY ones out there.
This was my first outing while rocking my North Face shell. I REALLY like the zip vents in the armpits!! I started off with one of my favorite hats, my worn-out TAG hat...
... and quickly lost it...
Rain boots really made the whole trip alot more enjoyable - it had rained out there for the last couple days - maybe that's why we were alone...
The trail winds around the lake - about 2.5 miles...
You can see where the rain was running down into the lake...
This is where the lake spills into the lower lying area - I'm sure this has a name, but I don't know what it's called...
I told my girl that I would really dig falling asleep to the noise of the running/falling water...
The lake was super calm that day...
Let's get down to business...
The ever present Izula...
My first Busse - my "gateway" - a Combat Grade SJTAC...
My most recent Busse purchase (in my possession anyway - have 3 TGs on order
)...
Team Gemini - Tanker Gray with Black Micarta...
Basic 11 with a red 550 lanyard - I read a post awhile back about this dude losing one of his very expensive knives out in the forest
and I immediately put a red lanyard on most of the knives I take out in the bush...
Combat Grade Killa Zilla II - not losing this puppy...
I carry this bad boy in a baldric rig pieced together from a Maxpedition strap, a large D-Ring, and a Buy Brown dangler set up sheath - model showing strong side carry...
Weak side carry - this is usually where it's at as I like to keep my right hand unobstructed to make it easier to get to whatever I may need to get to...
An elf came out of this tree and asked me if I had a smoke - tough day at the office baking cookies and what not...
Tried to get some "Temple of Doom" movie lines going here, but my girl wasn't having it...
Thank you for sharing our day with us!!
