Had an idea and some extra time, whipped out a micarta handle slab for my old small Sebbie, what do ya think? I kind of like it, very light weight. It needs a design on the slab, my be some checkering.

I like it. Definitely an original idea.

The back side would have to remain titanium though, wouldn't it, since that is the locking slab? Might be nice to mount a micarta inlay there, a'la the woodys.

Thanks for the input guys. The back handle slab is still the original Ti, have to keep it like Dennis said, for the lock. The front Ti handle slab is replaced with the micarta slab. I also have an idea of removing part of the handle slabs on the front and the back and inserting micarta or carbon fiber, make the knife look like it has bolsters and liners with the synthetic handle material 2/3 thirds of the handle.Bought a new benchtop dril press, works awsome for the small work.

Very sweet, Matt. You might want to contact CR Knives about utilizing the micarta handle as an option. I uses to live in Porterville. Aloooooooha!!!

Very nice work, Matt.

Matt, that's really darn cool, you've developed a "convertible" `benza. Makes me wonder what I did with that chunk of black and burgundy layered micarta I picked up at a knife show last year...

I might have to have one of those for that Umfaan, Don!

Love the knife by the way!

I agree that the knife modification is attractive. Have you given consideration to strength, however? After all, it is the two 6Al4V Ti slabs which give the knife its' strength. I would think that lateral or torsional stress on the blade would be less well handled by the softer, weaker micarta.

Walt

The micarta slab is the same thickness as the Ti slab, I am sure it is not as strong, but it is still very stout. This is my old style everyday carry small, you can see it gets alot of use from the scratches on the blade. The handle looks a little different now, pics coming soon of the first DECORATED small original handle style micarta Sebenza! I modify alot of these knives for myself and other forum members. Here is a couple of pics of knives I did for other guys.

Hey Matt-

I still have those pics that you sent to me. I'm about to send mine to CRK for engraving and blade polishing, then I'll be contacting you again for that second pic treatment!
