pic of my hunting buddy with a khukuri

Spreading the HIKV are we? ;)

What model khuk is he holding? I'm guessing its a 16.5" Chiruwa AK (with horn handle of course). ;)

Sams, good too see you have an old fart fer a hunting buddy.
Us old farts still have a little fun left in us, obvious from the way your buddy is holding that khuk.:D ;)

That one, is a WW2 model horn. What I bought him was a Chiruwa villager. I thought he needed something indestructible and fool proof.

"good too see you have an old fart fer a hunting buddy."

Yvsa, yes he is 77 yrs old. He grew up in the Everglades and moved out when the neighborhood started changing. ;)

We hunt pretty good together. We go slow. I have problems with my lungs from years of deep diving, and been in and out of the hospitals last year and past month. I guess I'm a "goner" but I still want to hunt and roam the outdoors. :(

He likes going with me because of my "woodsmanship" so he says. I guess that's the military part. :D

That's wonderful Sams. If you go slow I might be able too tag along as well.

When Munk comes down the latter part of June I hope too be in enough shape too take him back into some of my old hunting grounds. We'll see. I may not be able to make it too exactly where I want too go but I'm pretty sure I'll be able too get close.

I've just got too try out my Rollator in a grassy field, It does alright in the woods if there's a semblance of a trail but I'm uncertain what it'll do in the grass, may tangle up in the wheels but we'll see. Damn I'd love too go rabbit huntin again!!!!

:D - he doesn't look like it, but you know that's what's going on inside!!!!

Nice pic, nice story. It's good to get out and tromp around, regardless of condition.

Sams, I should have said I'm sorry about your condition the first time I posted and I truly am.:(
It's the drizzlin shltz not being able too roam like we once did, but at least we can still move slow as you say.;) It's nice too see from your pix that there are still some wild areas left in Florida.
My kids live in Jacksonville so all I ever hear about is how bad the traffic is and how long it takes too get some place.

I loved the woods down there when I was a kid. The trees seemed like they would almost reach the sky sometimes they were so tall.
And the wild grapes grew so thick across the tops of some that us kids were literally able too walk across their tops if we were careful too watch for thin spots where even a kid would fall through and those areas could mostly be crossed if you laid flat and rolled or belly crawled across.
When we lived at Palm Bay it was no more than a wide spot in the road and now I have seen Palm Bay featured on the TV show, "Cops.":(
West of town out across the railroad tracks there used too be nothing but scrub hickory and palmetto thickets with some areas of thin and sparse pine trees.
But on the south side of the road we lived on not far from our little 4 room house the trees grew thick and tall and there was swamp land with some deep holes of water where we could spear small fish.
Good times, good memories from there.:D

Thanks for the kind words. Getting old is crummy mostly from the pain and inability to do what used to be normal activity. I still get out and go to work but I'm asleep early. :D

Yes Florida is getting too civilized. Orlando is nothing like it was and changes every year for the worse. If you look at a map of the state, the entire east coast is one city after another. If we could have only invested inbetween those bigger cities we would be big time rich now.

The central part, upper north west and central south is still pretty wild like you describe in your early years. I try to hunt and fish as much as I can. I need to get a little jeep to really get through the woods and water. I'll add another shot of the woods were we hunted. Thick stuff but good for my 45/70. :)

Yep, good for thick woods. Not good for much distance though.
:p

Looks like your friend is in good shape for 77. Nice thought and gesture too on the new K for him.
