Hey guys, I thought this was my first Busse-Kin knife, but I looked back some years at my posting history and see where I bought a used Howling Rat. Sadly, I didn't have a clue what a great knife I had and let it go not long after.

Well, I won't be making that mistake again!

Here's a shot of my 2 day old Ratmandu. I spent some time testing it out this morning on some well-seasoned Oak and Cherry. It's great and holds an edge very well. I was doing some splitting and hit a piece of brick. I dinged the edge up pretty good, but it will smooth out fine I think.

Anyway, I am very happy with this knife and am looking forward to adding more to my collection!

RMDs are great for so many tasks. Nice size, fits the hand well and just begs to be used. I like all the variations lately too. I'm certain you can bring the edge back to perfection just takes a little skill and some time.

Yeah a few minutes on my Sharpmaker and it should be good as new again. I've never been crazy about choils and have mostly avoided them for a purely asthetic reasoning. But a little time whittling with this one and I am appreciating them much more. I'm really looking forward to spending more time with this knife!

Glad you like it. Be sure to keep us updated on it's use/abuse.

If you have trouble getting the ding out let me know and we can re-sharpen it for you

Eric

Thanks Eric. You are awesome. Seriously the best service before, during and after a sale I've ever experienced. I'm in customer service myself and I've gotta say, you know how to do business and keep customers coming back - offer a superior product at a competitive price and back it up! AWESOME!!:thumbup:

By the way, what area of KY are you guys in? My father in-law is from Pikeville (Maytown to be precise) and he was wondering where y'all were.

Drop me an email and I'll be happy to let you know. While it isn't a secret I prefer not to post it on a public forum

Congrats on your RMD . Although I don't have one (yet) I have heard nothing but good about that knife . Everyone says it's the most comfortable knife that size that they ever tried . Use it hard and enjoy it
