Hello out there all you happy people! I'm looking at buying an aluminum handled 710, but the seller doesn't have a scan of the knife, and I'd like to know what it looks like so I can compare it to the regular 710! Any pictures, and any opinions of this knife would be helpful also.

I would just use the search feature, but I'm not allowed to do searches at the moment :( !

Thanks!

Sincerely,
Anthony

The aluminum-handled 710 is, well, slimmer than the G10 version. I have one and I like it a lot. I've had my 710 for 15 months, and though I've taken it on hiking trips and used it for a variety of outdoor tasks, the aluminum scales haven't scratched noticabley. I have a large Sebenza and a SERE 2000, but my 710 is what I consistently carry when I venture into the great outdoors.

AL handles are somewhat slimmer but not very significantly.
And AL handles on 710 are quite grippy, not slippery at all.
Here's some pix:

SpyderJon, I have a 710AL (154CM) which is a user vs a pre-pro 710HS (M2)which is a collection piece. I think a swap of the M2 blade into the AL handle would result in a pretty near perfect EDC. See if you can get Steve Harvey to respond with his experience on such a combination--I recall him doing such a swap awhile back.

I like the aluminum scales and have not had a problem with scratches, chips, dents, etc. The AL scales makes the handle noticeably thinner than the G-10 version. However, it is a positive for me since it seems more unobtrusive when clipped in my pocket. In hindsight, I should have bought two 710ALs from my dealer when it was available.
