a guy on the esee forum has an esee-5 and curious about the bk-16 and haven't gotten any replies yet so i'll point him to this thread...thanks!

The ESEE forum is closed isnt it? BTW, wheres the pic?

He probably means the ESEE forum on the ESEE site, where they moved to. And if I understand him right the request for the pic is what he's fielding here, and when it is posted he will direct the guy on over.

there's a super secret one that's over a year old already...i can't post a link here because we don't want moose over there :p

i don't want to get an infraction so you can just go to esee's knife site and there are links right at the top. all the way to the right is a link to the new forum...bring sheep as peace offering to flexxx otherwise he'll kick you out!

Hahahahahaha

I would like to see a bk16 vs esee4 real bad like. :D

I can do a comparison shot later today if that's what you want, but not a chop off or anything. The only BK16 I have is my FPR and it's not my user, waiting on regular production for that. I'm sure someone else around here could help with that though.

Those two knives are no even on the same planet as each other.IMHO

the ESSE 5 is more the size of a Bk2. Comparing a BK16 with it is folly.

Thanks rogue! I am not the guy referenced in the OP but I would like to see this. Maybe you can do a short comparison review. :D

I don't have the ESEE 5. I do have the 3. I know it's not what was asked, but here's a photo none the less:

Jim is right. Put up a pic of a BK16 next to a BK2 and it's almost an exact comparison, size-wise.

I'd like to start by saying sorry to JV3 if this is slight thread jacking, but I don't feel it is a complete enough/strong enough review to put up on it's own thread without starting bickering/admonishment or what not and it was requested by someone in this thread. If you are offended PM me and I will personally edit it out. But hey, perhaps your friend on the ESEE forum would find it interesting too.

Here you go SMH, sorry about the phone pics. I'd like to point out that my 16 is different from the Reg. Production because of the coating, roll stamp, and most importantly: grind. So I will not really touch on those features. Also while I have used my ESEE 4, I do not play with my 16 so I will not touch on how they compare in use either. Pics:

As you can see they are very similiar in length, if you'd like to know the exact measurments there are many places to find them starting in our forum stickies. The ESEE 4 has a little more heft to it and is a little thicker (sorry, forgot to take a spine shot). The regular 16 will be flat ground which I imagine will shave even a little more weight off of it. Getting micarta stock on the ESEE 4 is nice, but really you ARE paying for it. I still give the ergos to the 16 by far, it is one of the most comfortable knives I have ever held. As far as sheaths, there are great things about both. I love the kydex on the ESEE, and I LOVE how modular it is, however as a ready to go, working system the BK16 sheath is very impressive and it is really nice to have that front pocket already included on the BK sheath (any hardcore ESEE dudes that see how my sheath is set up, yeah, it's probably wrong, but it works for me). I believe edge retention/steel quality in general is a little higher on the ESEE, not a steel geek myself so can't say for certain but I love all of my 1095CV BKs and have no problems with them so it kind of like, how many alligators are you going to be skinning per day anyways? Both will do their job well.

Not going to declare a winner, would be unfair as I have not gotten to put a BK16 through the paces. Both have awesome things about them.

The Machaxs aren't even out. I knew I shouldn't have held my breath on the 16.

For good measure of the thread, someone should put a BK2 next to a ESEE-5.

thanks, guys...i gave the guy a link to this thread.

@RogueBowie: i am offended by the thread hijacking and demand reparations! that esee-4 will do :D

ohhh ahhh, man this makes me want to buy more knives! I'll also support the idea of a esse4 vs bk-16 thread

Well. Some good has come of this thread at least. Warrior's pic has settled a debate I've been having with myself. ;)

Now, where do I get me one of dem there ESEE patches? LOL
