I love my Caly 3, but I'd like something just a bit longer. Naturally the Caly 3.5 is the obvious option, but the Paramilitary 2 just came out too, and is very similar in size. Everything I didn't like about the original Para seems to have been fixed. So that's on the table now too.

If anybody happens to have both, could I see some comparison pics? Nothing fancy, just some side-by-side shots. Something where I can gauge the handle size and thickness.

Thanks.

Here you go. You just happened to catch me when I was set up to take pics.

The Caly blade is 3 mm thick, and the Para 2's is 3.5 mm. Two very different knives, but both great. You can't really go wrong with either one.

If I had to choose, I'd take the Caly 3.5. I prefer VG-10, and the edge is ground particularly thin, just like the Caly 3. When a Carpenter CTS-XHP version of the Para 2 is released (hint, hint, Sal), it might be a different story ;)

Awesome, thanks.

Looks like I'll probably be getting a Caly 3.5 in the hopefully not-too-distant future.

I was at Spyderco yesterday and was looking at these same 2 knives. The handle in thinner and narrower and I have medium hands. The Caly handle seemed almost too small and Para seemed just right. My choice though, was the carbon Sage, soooo nice!

Sorry to be a bore Tom, but do you happen to have a Caly 3 you could shoot next to the 3.5 (like in the first pic)? Thanks.

G10/VG10 Caly3 is one of my favorite knives. I carried it every weekday since they come out. Love it. Fantastic ergos, excellent slicer, and looks gorgeous. I wished this knife would have a little longer blade. Sal granted my wish. Caly3.5 came out. Also he made his magic with new knife: weight and handle size is almost the same as original Caly3, but blade about 1/2" longer. If you hold Caly3 or Caly3.5 in your hand, you do not feel any difference, just getting longer blade, which comes handy on some occasions.
Many times I heard comment with reference to Sal, that Spyderco designs their knives in a dark, may be this is true in some occasions, but not Caly. This knives are beautiful in addition to be superb cutters.
Caly3.5 replaced Caly3 in my pocket. Caly3 is my out of state knife now.
