Lost my yeller peanut and looking to pick up a new replacement in either dark red bone or chestnut bone, can anyone post a comparison pic of the two side by side?
Its hard to get a feel for the actual colors on the web shots I have seen.

Unfortunately the dark red bone can be anything but. Here is an example. The picture doesn't show it well but there was actual white bone at the periphery of the covers.

Here is the same knife after RIT dye (middle), chestnut bone (bottom), and 70s case bone (top).

Thanks for the pic, that red bone didn't look very dark, is the chestnut bone also dyed or is that how it came from case?

The chestnut is how it comes from Case. The chestnut is by far my favorite of their current offerings. Ideally, if you're buying from a dealer, they could check their stock and find you a knife with bone that fits your criteria.

Hang on a few - I have both; let me take a couple pics...

Edit: OK...here are some pics. Sorry about the white balance being off; I have on natural light tonight.

Sonneman is correct - both my peanut and my slimline trapper have small white areas on the bone at the edges. At least they're not pink, nor large, nor asymmetrical. On the other hand, I sent my first red peanut back because the white spots were so bad.

Anyhoo, the pics:

Thanks for the pics everyone, the red bone looks good, but the inconsistencies in color are kind of putting me off a bit.

Well, the chestnut bone is a true favorite around here. But the dark red bone is just as nice, too.

I actually like the Red Bone scales that have the little white splotches here an there on the bone. Not sure why but I do I guess I feel it gives it a little more character maybe. I don't like it when there is pink or to much of the white but just a little bit here and there looks good.

Amazing dye job Sonneman! What was the Rit color you used?
