Hey guys - just wondering if anyone has an ESEE-6/RC-6 that they can put next to a Swamp Rat Ratmandu?

Thanks in advance!!!

yep Ratganza, I'd love to see a pic of one in black canvas/ black blade, that's what I ordered. The howling rat looked really good with that combo, anyway it should look nice along side the ESEE 6.

Here is my Ratmandu, black canvas/ black blade to hold bikeknife over. I dont have a RC-6 yet! Here it is with my old Flat Top for size comparison.

I have both, and yet again today I forgot to take the picture. :o

Hopefully tomorrow I'll keep enough brain cells healthy and remember to take it. :p

oh man what a sweet knife, I can't wait!! thanks for the pic.

By the what are you guys planning to do for a sheath?

The Ratmandu is more compact than the RC-6, having a 5.25" blade to the RC-6's 6.375" blade. Their weight is close. Also the Ratmandu has a 3/16" thick blade, and the RC-6 is just under that.

Both are good handling knives. The Ratmandu is made of 52100 steel which really holds an edge exceptionally well. The RC-6 is made of 1095 steel, a proven good all-around cutlery steel. They are both very rugged and practical outdoor knives.

Horn Dog - you are the man!

Thank you very much for the comparison shots!!!

They are much less similar than I had originally thought...

Which one do you like more?

I prefer the Ratmandu to the RC-4, RC-5 or the RC-6. The handle on the Ratmandu fits my hand perfectly. It has a larger handle than the RC-4, but is more compact than the RC-5. That is not a put down of those fine ESEE knives, just a preference.

the handle on the RMD does seem to be a bit more ergonomic...

.

Who made this sheath for the RMD? It's exactly what i want for my RatManDu!

The Swamp Rats are very good knives, but they do not come with sheaths and cost more than ESEE knives. They are only available for sale at limited times, like all the Busse family knives. It's a lot simpler, cheaper, and easier to get a good ESEE knife from one of the many vendors when you want it. And I have never had a problem with any of my RATs or RCs. I'm sure the new ESEE Junglas and Light Machete will both continue in that tradition.
