Hi all,

I've been itching for a while to add a nice traditional knife to my EDC. For what's currently available and what I like the looks of I've narrowed it to probably a GEC #54 Jack or #66 Calf Roper. I want to carry it in my front right coin pocket, but I am having trouble finding size comparison photos.

Would you guys who own a Buck 110 and/or a GEC 54 and 66 be willing to post some comparisons of length and width? I have a Buck 110 for comparison...and it's a bit big for that coin pocket.

Thank you in advance!

I carry a 25 in my coin pocket, don't have either of the other GECs for comp pic, sorry

If no one comes through for you, I can do it tomorrow. I just picked up a 54 in Brimstone Bone, I have the 66 calf roper and a 110. The 66 is much smaller than the other two with the 110 the largest.

Thanks, that would be great!

This thread has innumerable comparison pictures to check out. Trand is great at setting up shots so you could see the difference between patterns from GEC. No Buck 110 but this should help.

Right on the first page toward the bottom there's some shots that show a 66 and a 53. The 53/54, 4" frame is a big knife. Not a watch pocket knife by any means.

You may be the first person to ever try to fit a Buck 110 into your coin pocket . That must be one large coin pocket.

The 66 is 3.5 inches closed. The 54 is a big GEC at 4 1/8 inches closed. The Buck 110 is 4 7/8 inches closed.

The Buck 112 Ranger is one size down from the 110. Maybe that would work for you.

This picture is of actual #66 and #54 knives, with a Buck 110 photoshopped in to scale. The lengths are 3.5, 4.1 and 5" respectively.

Thanks guys. I should add, I have big pants. :) My Duluth Trading jeans have a coin pocket big enough that the Buck 110 just barely doesn't fit length-wise, and while it fits width-wise it is just too bulky for my liking. Only reason I tried it was to try to get some sort of idea for the #54.

I have a #66 slim, single spring with two blades on opposing sides. It's a joy to carry and disappears in the pocket. I no longer have a 110 but the buck is substantially larger than the 66.

The 66 will been completely covered in a pair of Levi's watch pocket. I wish the would make another run of 66s especially the moose model.

I just tried Buck's 112 and GEC's 54 and 66 in a pair of Duluth jeans coin pocket. The 112 was quite bulky. The 54 was a good fit. Especially when angled from the bottom front of the pocket to the top at the rear of the pocket, very comfortable. The 66 laid flat almost unnoticeable at the bottom of the pocket. FWIW I really liked GEC's 54 in Duluth's coin pocket.

LOL, yes, yes I am. If it's any consolation the 66 fits most non Duluth pockets better than the 54. :)
Still it's true that whenever possible one should really have both.:D

OP, you're on the right track! I was going to say, "Order a #66 pronto, then think through what you may want next"-- but I see you're already there.

:D

That's not a problem. First I got a beautiful 66 Calf Roper in Ebony and just recently picked up a large 54 in Brimstone Bone and realized that I still had a little room in my pockets so there was only one thing to do, a 14 in Antique Yellow Bone. Lovin' it!
