Couldn't find anything searching, but does anyone have both a Hog Muk and a Basic 4 Anorexic and could take a few comparison pics?

I've been after a Basic 4 LE Ano for what feels like forever, and they are just not popping up for sale anymore. Hog Muks have been coming up a little more frequently. How similar are these in performance?

Pics and comparisons from hogs who have owned and used both would be great. Are there any other past models with somewhat similar specs for blade thickness and height?

We've got a few more ~0.160" thick blades with taller blade heights coming up thanks to O2W such as WTH, and the Baby Boom and Mini Muk are similar with slightly shorter blade heights I believe. But all are saber grind. Will be interesting to hear those comparisons as well.

Man. 3 weeks ago...... I'd prefer the muks no choil action. Tttt. But. I'm very happy with my shaving utensil. B4LE A

Some pics

I've never skinned anything with either one, but for kitchen, woods and EDC they're both real nice users. I guess B4 is slightly more versatile with narrower blade at the tip for EDC, quite a bit lighter, but I'd like it more without a choil.

Warder, only interested in the anorexic version? Magnum too thick for your applications?

I hadn't really considered the no choil/choil aspect but great point. For some reason, until now I also hadn't thought of how different the balance must be on each. Does this play a role at all, in use of each? Or are they too small to make a difference?

Thanks for the pics! Love this place. I appreciate all the angles as well.

If you had to pick one?

At the moment, just looking for the anorexic. From what I've read on the magnum it's still a good slicer being able to take advantage of the tall blade height to get good cutting geometry. Do you have a magnum? If so, what do you think of its "slicy-ness"? The extra strength with the .22 spine would be nice to use as a one-tool option.

I do, I actually have two Magnums - one tan and one black. Never had a thin yet. I like the .22 thickness on them- to me they seem like almost the perfect survival knife. The black one was a recent acquisition and holy hell its got the sharpest convex I've ever seen (though I'm not a Hog like some of the guys on here)- but that thing literally just melted a page of newspaper when I did a test cut. Haven't used that one for anything else. The tan one is a user but used it more like a utility/bushcraft knife without any applications of real slicing or precision work. I found an old tow strap and test cut on that- found it very easy to zig-zag through that strap with the blade. I tend to like my knives around .25 so the magnums fit the bill. Nothing against the slimmer ones, just haven't had exposure to them! Hope that helps :)

My B4A is now my most used game knife. I occasionally take another out with me (mostly a HRLM) but the B4 is the one I keep comming back to. It arrived sharp as all hell and remains so despite having hacked and cut through all manner of critter bits, its been pulled down the shaft of a screwdriver to stand up a couple of rolls and stropped but no other sharpening thus far.

Muk has balance point just under the first tube/rivet, very neutral in use. With skinny B4 you don't worry about a balance point, it's so light that it just 'melts' into your hand.

If I wasn't already sold on the B4, I am now!

Thanks for the comments. If the anorexic didn't exist, I think I'd be completely sold on the magnum.

A skinny just came and went on the exchange :/. For a good price too.
