Hey folks,

I really like the look of the Izula, and am considering buying one. I however want to see how large the handle is.

I have fairly large hands and I thought the RC-4 handle was a little small for me.

I can force a 4 finger grip on a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian but it's not comfy. I can get a good comfortable 4 finger grip on the Spyderco Delica 4 and the full size Benchmade Griptilian.

Anyone care to share some comparison pictures?

Thanks! :)

I'll get ya. BRB.
Sheathed. I modified the sheath for horizontal carry. And added a drain hole and lock tensioner.

With the Para. I know you have a Para or two so I figured that would be a good comparison.

here ya go...., sorry for the crappy pic quality!

from top; RC-4(coating stripped and then it was blued which is why it may look funny), Fullsize Griptillian, Izula

Although the grip on the Izula is small, it's very comfortable to use and actually has a surprisingly secure grip. I can just barely get my pinkie on the end. I added a lanyard(not shown in pic) that alot of times I'll loop my pinkie through which helps a bit. Pick one up, you won't regret it!!

P.S. Drod, mind if I use your RC sig?? Looks alot cooler than mine!!

Thank you both very much. Yeah I think I'll grab one and then just tie the rest of the cord into a pinkie loop hanging off the end of the handle.

I just want a little fixed blade to take with me here and there when I don't want to worry about a lock.

Nice comparison pics guys, looks like you can get a good three fingered grip.

DRod,

How does that lock tensioner work?

NP David!

The Izula will be an excellent EDC fixed blade. It's small enough to carry comfortably and acts bigger than it actually is when it comes to cutting chores.

Cut the hell outta my index finger fiddling with my RC4 for that pic! lol!! Watch out, RAT's bite!! :p

The knife is held in with a nub on either side of the sheath on the inside. When you pull the knife out it spreads the sheath open along the seem. There is a slot between the sides that allows it to do so. What I did was put a limit on how far it spreads apart. I can tighten it so that its harder to pull but Right now I haven't had to. I really just did it for when the nubs start to wear. Its not tightened at all right now.

I eventually want to whip up a Kydex version but haven't gotten around to it.
I did all of that on downtime at work. Love it when my machines work like they are supposed to, I can catch up on reading, modifying stuff, and sleep. :)

The Izula sheath comes from the factory with a large drain hole already in it. It's just concealed so it doesn't look bad as a cross hole does.

Yeah that izula is calling to me. Its what I tried to grind down my BK11 to be, without that dadgum bump right where your index finger needs to go when choking up on it.

Holy crap. How did I miss that?! Drains into the lanyard hole.
Hah. How bout that.

When Shon Rowen designs something, he really designs it. He did a great job on the sheath design ;)

Looking at these pics, it looks like the Izula is going to be exactly what I want.

Drod, that is exactly what I want to do when my Izula comes in. Can you post more pics of it? Give more details of it.

So do the knives come with the sheath and the Paracord or do you have to supply your own Paracord? Don't matter to me as I plan on using Orange.

I have medium to largeish hands. Maybe these will help...

You have to supply your own, unless you buy the kit which also comes with a molle lock, fire flint, and a few other assorted goodies. If you want the molle, buy the kit...if not, it's not really worth it.

Sure. I drilled and tapped the holes, and put the washers in when I threaded the screw it. They have a slight gap so they turn and roll freely but protect the cord from fraying on the bare screw. The screw it just long enough to thread into the other side but short enough that it doesn't go into the knife "cavity".

This is the tension screw I put in. The nut is on the other side and is held it by the sheath.
