Pic Request: Satin Jack and a Cold Steel SRK

I've been thinking of jumping into the upper echelon of fixed blade knives recently and have decided that a Busse just might be the right direction for me to go. I have a Cold Steel SRK that I like except for the rubber handles and the thick edge. I'm thinking that a knife with approximately the same dimensions but with a more effecient grind and more comfortable handles would be ideal.

The Satin Jack seems to fit the bill but I was hoping that perhaps someone could post a pic of the two side by side. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

By the way, does anyone know what the current wait time is for a Combat Grade Satin Jack purchased directly from Busse?
 
I have a battered SRK laying around here somewhere but I don't have a way to get a pic posted of the two side by side:(
If you decide to take the plunge and get a Jack you will not be disappointed!
The Satin Jack is from .25" stock which may seem or sound heavy, but is considerably more comfortable than the SRK. It has a very ergonomic handle, which the SRK lacks IMHO. It balances perfectly and it doesn't have the "boxy" feel that the SRK does either. It also has the enlargened choil so that you can choke up and get more "in tune" with the blade for delicate work, which I remember the SRK being a little difficult to manipulate in this fashion. I used to think the rubber handle (Kraton IIRC???) on the SRK was the bee's knees, but the Micarta on the Jack provides a better grip and is ten times more durable.

I'm not sure on the availability dates, but call the shop and feel them out. Better yet, if you could hit a show they happen to be attending I'd bet you could leave with one in hand:D

Sorry man, I called the shop last week and on Saturday ordered the last SJ CG they had (3-6 weeks wait until more available, they said). It'll be my first Busse and you can imagine my excitement! I got a confirmation that the SJ shipped on Monday, so it won't be long....:D

By the way, I have to give all the credit to Jerry for getting me to post. I've consulted these forums extensively in the past looking for advice on a medium-sized fixed-blade, and that's how I decided on the SJ. When I called the Busse number on Saturday night I didn't expect anyone to be around (I was going to leave a message), but lo and behold, I had a chance to talk to the MAN himself! Jerry made me feel like an old friend and encouraged me to jump on the Bladeforums bandwagon. I know the Busse community here has a ton of wisdom to offer, and its members are some of the most enthusiastic on the forums. I hope you guys will be patient with my questions as I adjust to the new nuclear lifestyle!

You'll find the water here is fine.

The Satin Jack is a great knife, one of my favorites.
The only one I have 4 of, well there are those LMS's, and "Oh," yeah the straight handle BM's, and the.....never mind.

But, any way...Welcome.
 
SteelDriver, don't mind 1whobuys, he has one of the worst cases if INFI addiction we've seen in years here. Eric has drawn a bead on his house and we're all planning a road trip to help remove his problems for him....

Welcome aboard, there's so many here with experience with Busse that any question can probably be answered. I just haven't found anyone here to loan me money for my Busse addiction :(

Welcome to the Busse Forum. I'm sorry I can't help you with the picture request as I don't own any Cold Steel products. Anything else, other knives, you want it pictured with. Welcome aboard and to the Wonderful World of Busse!! :) Glad to hear you got an order placed and filled right away. You will love the SJ when you get it. Great knife, perfect for many utilitarian tasks or to take out to the field with you.

Eric,you know better than that!You should never disgrace a Busse with another knife's prescence.I am surprised that Jackyl didnt rip the Kraton off that SRK!

Thanks for the pic. The Satin Jack definately appears to be what the doctor ordered.

I'll have to do some scrounging for the money first, but I'll definately buy one as soon as I can.

Or, I can just run up my balance on one of my credit cards like I usually do!
