Can someone post a picture of a Paramilitary 2 next to a Sebenza 25, open and closed? It would help me to see it next to something I know. They are both very close to the same length open and closed, despite many other differences, but pictures are, as they say, worth a 1000 words.

Also, how easy is the 25 to open left handed? Is it reasonably ambidextrous?

Thanks

CRK is reportedly coming out with a dedicated left handed 25 in a couple of months. You might want to wait for that.

I no longer have a PM 2, but I've owned a few since they came out. Compared to my regular large Sebenza, which is pretty close in size to the 25, the PM 2 has longer grips and a shorter blade. Because of the choil on the PM 2, it has at least 1/4 inch less cutting edge than a large Sebenza, if that matters to you. The PM2 blade is more comparable to a small Sebenza IMO. About the same cutting edge, although the small Seb is a much smaller package overall. Chris Reeve folders are designed so that the blade fills the handle completely when closed, packing the most cutting edge possible into a given handle size.

My thumb is bruised from trying to open the 25 with my left hand. Takes getting used to, but still hurts. Definitely a right handed knife. I think the ambi thumbstuds is more for symmetry.

The trick I found to open it left handed is take your middle finger and push it out that way about 1/4 to 1/2 way and then finish it off with your thumb. Super easy. I can just about middle finger flick it out all the way.

Works like a charm.

You'll have to forgive how crappy these photos are... but I took them quickly.

I love my Sebbies, but the PM2 is definitely on my list of favorite blades. It's a fun "flicker" in addition to just being a good all around knife. Spyderco did a good job on that knife.

It just takes some practice. The lockside does not have the same cutout, so its obviously harder to open. I just got a new sebenza 25 on saturday and have not had any issues opening it. Mine is super smooth, almost like a well used large regular. To me its just a cross between the sebenza and the umnumzaan. If your hands are sweaty or slippery, opening any sebenza is more difficult, wether new or worn.
