I am thinking about getting a ZT 0200 and was wondering if I could see a comparison picture between a ZT 0200 and 0300 series... color and serrations don't matter.

Or, if there is already a thread with this if you would be so kind as to give me a link. Thanks!

speaking as someone who just recently went off the reservation down to NGK and bought both. i say it doesn't matter which you look at, they are both elegant pieces and at the same time humongous tanks. the speedsafe on the 300 series is a bit slow unless you use your wrist, and if you use your wrist, the 200 is as fast as any flipper ive seen. both feel great in the hand and in the pocket.

that being said, i think the 300 is better suited for the slicing and cutting tasks (and if you absolutely must take it into the woods and use a mallet on the spine to assist in the chopping down of small trees {sad face} it would work a little better). the 200 has a more useful shape in my opinion, the point is better suited for piercing, the recurve is great for assisting in the slicing motions and the pronounced belly is even suited to pairing motions.

i don't have a great camera but i am sure others will be along shortly to direct you to picture links.

good luck, you know you will be getting both anyway :)

haha... I would like to get both but I have spent WAAAYYY too much money in the past year on knives.

Thanks for the help. Do you have any knives (not other Kershaws or ZTs) that compare with the 0200?

There are many pictures of both knives on this forum, and also a lot that compare the two.
Here is a post that compares the thickness of the two.
I'm sure others will point you to a thread with more comparison pictures, as I haven't got the time at the moment to find them for you.

nothing in my budget could come close to comparing :-DDD

Hi Swimmerdude, if you PM with your email address and I will email you some pics I have comparing them to other big knives I have. I can't post pics.

I just got both knives at the same time. The 0301 is an easier knife to carry in the pocket as it is flatter. The 0200 is a great value but I think the 0300 is a phenomenal value.

Size-wise both are nearly the same but the ergonomics and blade shape of the 0200 lend itself better as a combat/self-defense knife, if that's your thing.

If I had just gotten the 0200 I may have been curious about the 0300 but if it was vice versa and I just got the 0300, I may not have gotten the 0200 at all.

One option to consider along these lines would be the JYDII in its various flavors. A young midshipman should be able to swing the plebian G10 and Sandvik (sorry, couldn't resist the pun), if not the fancy composite D2 or Ti and laminated SG2 versions.

Hmm, sorry swimmerdude, seems like I don't have rights to PMs anymore. Strange, don't know when BF made all these changes. Well if you'd like to provide an email address or PM on USN I can send it to you there.

I compared the 0200 and 0301 next to some other big knives I have - the Surefire Alpha, BM AFCK, Spyderco Military, BM Skirmish. The 0200 and the 0301 are the shortest with the Skirmish being the largest overall, significantly larger. Lengths of the knives aside, the 0200 and 0301 are the the most ROBUST, by far. Every other knife feels 2 dimensional (because they are flat). But when you pick up the 0200 and the 0301 the heft and feel is completely different - almost like holding the grip of a gun. If you are into guns I would say the 0301 feels like holding a Sig Sauer and the 0200 feels like a DA revolver... Sorry, got excited and am rambling here....

One more note, even though the 301 is slightly shorter than the 0200 just by a little bit, with the way the knives are designed (the 0301 thumb grooves are set further back in the handle), extending from the grip in the hand, the protruding blade size is the same.

Anyways, best of luck with your purchase!

Here they side by side:

For some reason they are listed as 4.25" long in real it is 302 - 3.75" and 200 - 4" long.

Both are great knives!

Thanks, Vassili.

...but there are many pictures in English...

Thanks for all the help! I am gonna sleep on it for awhile and decide what I want. Between this and the new Kershaws coming out (RAM, TFK, Shallot) I must pay attention to where I spend money :D

something else I found interesting on the LAPG site today:

The handles on both the Zero Tolerance 0100 and 0200 knives are the same. Basically this allows for one to go from one knife to the other without having to adjust grips in the dark, in the field or while experiencing an adrenaline rush from some other emergency. The 0200 folder and 0100 fixed blade are designed to function together. This is also evident by the pocket on the outside of the sheath on the fixed blade which the 0200 fits in perfectly. Actually all the ZT folders fit in that pocket but the 0200 is the one made to go there. However, if you look at the 0400 it closely matches the grip pattern of the 0100 also and can also be a close match companion folder for the 0100. Another reason to go with these new Zero Tolerance Knives.

So I guess that if you're planning on an 0100 in the future (I know I am) then you may want the 0200 (though I still want an 0302)
