I've had a Buck 303 for give or take 15 years. Thinking of getting a 301. Anybody have a pic of the two side by side?
Does the 301 fit in the coin pocket?
Thanks in advance.

Coop,

The 301 is a little large for the coin pocket. In the attached photo, the 303 is 3rd from the top and the 301 is 4th from the bottom. My choice for pocket carry is the 303.

I find the 301 very comfortable for pocket carry, though it is a large stockman and quite a bit bigger than the 303. I couldn't carry it in my coin pocket without a lot sticking out.

I carry a 501 everyday in my coin pocket? little pocket on my jeans..... I just stuck a 301 in there and it fit fine, at a slight angle it just completely fit in one pair of Levis, in another pair there was a good 1/2 inch clearance, so at least in Levis, the 301 fits in the little pocket. I searched for a pair of wranglers to test it, but my wife must have thrown them all out now that I'm a city boy and no longer a farmer.....So, my input is if you wear Levis size 36, don't know if size matters, probably not as much as style of jeans.....at an angle the 301 will fit. With that said, I can't imagine what you will do with a 301 that you can not do with a 303 on a daily. as long as you stick with a Buck you will be OK!!!! check out the smaller 500 and 700 series, my preference over the 300 series, no offense to our Mod, I'll admit I've spent over $400 on 300 series knives in the past 2 weeks, but that's what happens when you add an Americas cup 315 and a 307 to your collection in the same week.......

So your the one.....ha Your not going to put pearl on it I hope...... One thing on watch pockets and jeans. Those of you that already have knives to put in there, at an angle they 'could' jump out if you were sitting down a lot and they were barely in there. So check that out before an accident of loss. Four wheelers, riding lawn mowers and farm tractors might be the worst. If I remember correctly Wranglers seemed pretty tight for 301s. I went to Buck lite in sheath, then a Buck multitool in sheath and then ended up with a 303 in a leather slip with braided leather cord that hung knife to the side of trekker type front pockets (glorified slacks). 300

I'm a 38 Wranglers type of guy. The 303 has some spare room in my coin pocket. Going to give the the larger 301 a try. If too large it can go into back right pocket. Just can't resist. Am envisioning that bigger is better.

Coin pocket with 301 inside, notice index finger on terminal end of said folder. Also Buck Fluid for scale, which BTW has pocket clip so even spin cycle won't or extended sitting won't disgorge from watch pocket, and comparo purposes.

Oregon has 'deep' pockets....I was talking Wranglers because I had to wear uniform pants and it was either wranglers or slacks, both dark brown. Didn't show dirt to bad but were hot in sun. Now in after-life, mostly carry small vantage. I know, I am a traitor to a degree.....And oh my gosh, once in a while I carry a, let me whisper it, an overseas made 300......300

All my jeans except one pair of Lee's are Wranglers and they have nice deep watch pockets except maybe one older pair. I have one newer pair that has the watch pocket going all the way under my belt making it useless unless I wear an awfully slim belt! All mine are thick. I have at least a couple of pair that will hold my SA Deluxe Tinker with ease!

My Cowboy Cut Wranglers are about 3.5" deep. The opening is high and I wear a 1-3/8" belt so I can't use my watch pocket for much of anything.

Not all Wranglers are created equal.

Levi Strauss Signature jeans are 3.5" deep.

I was able to fit my 501, 503 and 505 in there together, with the 501 sticking out just a little.

I think I'll go with a 505 and Zippo lighter combo for a while.
