I got my order from Knives ship free today. I ordered an RC-3 in the sharp shooter sheath, RAT firesteel, and 200 of paracord. I was really surprised to find out how large the firesteel is compared to light my fire. The RC-3 is going to be the perfect companion to my RC-6. On a side note, did anyone find your sharpshooter sheath to be really oily?

the RC-6 sheath was a bit on the oily side but I figured that was just to help with rust on the unprotected portion of the blade.
 
I thought it was for treating the leather. Notice on the grip of the RC-3 the oil. I hope it dries out. It feels a bit waxy.
 
iggy, do not fear the 'oil' ! The leather on those sheaths is treated with a process called 'Extreme Environment Protection' or EEP. It's a protective additive in the leather and will seep out a little if the sheath is gets warm. It's great stuff and if you are worried about it on your knife handle just try some warm water and dish soap with a toothbrush and it will come right off. Micarta is essentially non-absorbent and will not be stained by the EEP. Plus if it gets on the blade it will help keep the steel from corrosion. I've got one of those Sharpshooter sheaths for my RC-4 and I love it. Nice haul!
 
Thanks for the heads up! right now the sheath and knife are taking a break. I'm giving them enough room to breath...
