Over time I might like to acquire 2 of the following 4 knives for pocket carry and all manner of hard use. Any thoughts (other than that I spend way too much time on my computer)?
1. Buck Strider Spear Point
2. Small Sebenza
3. Crawford Shark
4. Mayo TNT
Value is always a concern, but so is a lifetime of use. That'll bring my collection up to my magic number of 7 knives that'll pretty much cover it all.

Why is 7 the magic number for your collection? I would choose a Mayo TNT, and the Crawford shark.

I can only give advice on the Sebenza as I don't own the other three. The Sebenza will definitely give you a lifetime of use.

I would have to say #1 and #2, not having experience with the others. But I do know that these two knives will handle any cutting job that needs doing.

For hard use I would definately recomend the Buck/Strider SP. To Describe it in one word, it's a "BEAST". Just be prepared when you recieve it cause it's definately "Different".

Good question. There's about 500 knives that I admire, but one favorite for each mode of carry would be:
large fixed blade for the great outdoors
small fixed blade for belt carry - ended up not being able to part with my Strider DB (sold a gun instead)
neck knife
front left pocket
front right pocket
IWB - clipped
right rear pocket - clipped
I'm still a knife rookie and should be for at least a few more years, but hopefully I'll keep learning.

I own a small Sebenza, and it is very sturdy. As for the other knife i have heard great things about Tom Mayo's Knives so i would go with the TNT.

I don't care for Sebenza's at all. I'd take a BM750 over a large one, and I traded-away my small Sebbie.

I've wanted to try a mini-Strider spear-point in BG42. Probably will eventually. They just seem cool to me.

I've got a medium TnT -- GREAT knife. Can't go wrong with it for EDC.

Kind of a silly question, don't you think?

C'mon - you know it, I know it, all of us here know it...you will NOT stop at 7 knives!

:D

AP:

You've got too dam many knives. You don't need knife for your front left pocket, front right pocket, IWB, and right rear pocket. You only need three: a right side utility, a right side "tactical", and a left-side, back-up tactical. Get the TNT for the right-side utility knife, they are wonderful knives; prettier than the Sebenza and feel better in the hand. Get one of the following for your tactical and tactical/utility backup: the Benchmade 710, 806D2, 94X, or 73X.

The Shark is a great design, but alas it is a liner lock and I would not pay $400 for a liner lock. The Buck Strider is brute strong for people who are too dumb to know that they shouldn't do that with a folding knife, and for people who need a brute strong knife but cannot carry a fixed blade for some reason. You have to admire a knife that just seems to say, "You can't break me". The Sebenza is a great knife for people who want a knife that cuts well but doesn't look very nice or feel very comfortable.

I'm outa' here.

Sebenza and TNT. Both very well made knives from the finest materials.

A medium TNT in your right front pocket, awesome quality, talonite edge holding and even sheeple friendly AND a large Sebenza in a G2 sheath on your belt for bigger jobs. That's pretty much all you need :D

But why only 7:confused:

BTW, thanks for a smooth deal today:cool:
