I'm looking to find a Case peanut that suits my tastes, and thought I might pick your brains on what your favs are. I'm looking for a rough-ISH use piece, (I.E. one I won't feel the need to baby) so no MOP or other exotics. I don't mind discontinued scale materials/patterns/colors being suggested providing you can actually find them without a 7th dan black-belt in Google-fu and they don't cost a fortune.

Let's see some peanuts on parade! Bonus points if it's a pic of your own!

Chestnut bone in CV. Said to be some of the best work that Case has done in a long time.

Or

Traditional Yeller CV.

Those would be the ones I would recommend, too. I have the Chestnut one in CV and I got my father-in-law the yeller one last year. They're both nice. Get both!

Here's mine

For what you are describing, I'd go with a yellow CV peanut. The synthetic material is more durable, no problems with hot-cold shrinkage or cracking. I had a yella handle one for quite a while, but gave it to a young guy at an Ikea. I missed it, and just recently got a replacement. The yella makes it hard to lose if you set it down outside someplace, and it make a nice contrast with a well patined blade.

I'm going to skip the yellow for now, but thanks for mentioning it. It's on the list already. :D I'm looking for something in bone or other materials along those lines--I've been EDCing a Bermuda green swayback for about a year now and it's holding up great. I just said no MOP, mammoth, etc. since it's above the price range I'm looking at and would be more of a dress knife than a user to me.

I have a pocket-worn red bone peanut that I like alot and since they are pretty common I am not afraid to use it. Another one that I really like but might be a little harder to find is my silver script autumn bone peanut.

42 Blades,

Jim is correct as he usally is 'bout such things. Both great users and nice and handsome to look at. I have them both(pictured here--top 2 on the right) and the other  thing 'bout bone and Peanut patterns is they make the perfect size and combination worry stones so-to-speak. If I am thinking real hard and puzzeling somthing together in my mind, hunting for a solution to a certain problem.. I reach into my pocket pull out my Peanut and start rubbing the purdy bone scales with my thumb and two fingers.. And more often than not, I solve my problems PDQ. :D

I have some others too around here. I'll try to find them.

That is a nice selection of nuts. WOW!

I have had several different Case peanuts, but my favorite is the one that I carry the most now, and that is the new Chestnut bone CV peanut, which texasflyfisher displayed nicely. I recommend it highly.

What in the world is the name of that lovely moss-green one?

Well, folks around here are probably sick of seeing this one of mine, but here she is again, Case Bluegrass bone Circle C. in SS. Would probably be hard to find one of these, but the color and jig is almost identical to the current pocket worn bermuda green line IMO.... Hmm.. maybe I should get one from that line and compare to make sure...

My next nut will be that Chestnut brown... pics like that one of texasflyfishers' above are killin' me!

Why not try a CASE Crandall Cutlery peanut? Very nice thick olive green/black bone scales, bowtie shield. Should be easy to get on the Bay.

On the other hand, why not try a pen-knife instead of a peanut?? I prefer the pattern, slimmer and longer.

Oh I'm pretty dead set on a peanut--I need to join the club! :D My fiancee is already a member. I gave her a black-and-white checkerboard peanut last year. :)

Here is the red bone I mentioned.

I am quite smitten with my Case Olive Green Barnboard. At $34 it was money well spent:

I think you nailed it. Lets call it Forrest Moss or Back Woods Moss.. :D

But really, I gave that Peanut to a member of this forum around the Holiday Season late last year as a gift. I will go and look tomorrow to see if I can find the old box for the name. It might still be here since they are all in a seperate area from the knives.
