My b-day is the 14th, so I've been thinking of a new knife. I've been thinking of the buck strider/mini strider, lil temperence, and the sere. I am not a huge fan of liner locks, and am not a navy seal. I remember that the 1st striders i saw felt huge. also, though, the sere has gotten really rave reviews, but it too seems like a lot of knife to carry for my realistically urban purposes. I have yet to get my hands on a lil temperance, which may be the deciding factor..I don't really abuse my stuff, but I am going to be remodeling a house soon, and my endura..my fave is 5+years old, and I'm getting eager to replace it. All responses will be appreciated. thanks, joe

Normally I would choose a Spydie first, but this time I would choose the Al Mar Sere. Mainly do to looks. Both are very strong and I hear the Spydie LT is very comfortable. I just can't warm up to the looks. OF course looks are not everything...
Good Luck, you really can't go wrong with any of them.

I dont like liner locks either, but the buck striders have some that I wouldnt be afraid to use and carry. I was checking one out next to a Emerson of similar shape and size, and the liner thickness was considerably more on the Buck. Ergonomics wise I feel the full size buck srtider fails. I have big hands and like big knives but the blocky handle of the Buck strider just dont fit. The small on the other hand was more comfortable and an actual Strider GB is increadibly confortable to me. My suggestion would be the mini-strider, I like it a lot.

The Sere is big, has a good rep and comes in many different configurations depending on the model/year you can find. I have little experience with it but I like the design...except the liner lock. But I have seen it in lockback occasionally.

Spydercos are great! Thogh I can barely stomace the look of them save for a couple models. The LT no doubt is an awesome (and ugly) knife.

So I guess if it were me I'd prob go for the mini-strider spearpoint.
