I had been looking around for a new knife for the last few months and was really attracted to the RAT line. I read a ton of reviews, spent a bunch of time reading people's opinions in forums, and as much other research as I could stand. I came down to deciding to pair an Izula up with either an RC 4 or RC 5. The goal was to get something that would be a great deployment/tactical knife and also a great camping/field knife. Not being able to handle them in person makes the decision pretty difficult, but after many recommendations from you guys I ended up settling on the RC 4 & Izula combo. RC 4 in black and the Izula in OD. I just got them in Baghdad today courtesy of New Graham Knives, here's a pic for you guys:

Included in the pic for size reference is a standard size Kabar (stamped US Army not USMC :p ) and my old Kershaw Whirlwind folder. If you compare the blade of my Kershaw to a brand new one you should get an idea why I was looking to replace it. I also got a Fenix E01 flashlight to replace my mini-MAG.

These knives are pretty awesome, very stout and definitely feel like they could last a lifetime. The length of the RC 4 is about perfect for what I wanted, and the Izula is gonna make a great EDC. Thank you guys for all the recommendations and reviews.

My intent was to try cutting open a car roof once I got the knife but I don't have any trashed cars where I am lol, so that'll have to wait. I just got them today so no pics of field use...yet.

The RC4 and Izula (with a folder) is going to be my field kit too.

I too have researched knives to death. I think the RC4 is the best call for an all around bushcraft knife.

Great pack man! Maybe you can keep us informed on how they behave in the field. Stay safe!

Keep your head down and be safe. Let us know how they work for you with field use.

Thanks for your service from an ex Air Force guy.

Thats my EDC RC4 & Izula, great knives that work well. Its really awesome when I can cut (the ends) points on my tomatoe & green bean support stalks and not have to sharpen my knife. I used the RC4 to cut branches (use them to support my garden plants) and I still don't need to resharpen it. I have cut wood (branches) for the last few days (every day, a few hours each day) and its still hair cutting sharp. I do not own those fancy garden rings (support structures), so I have to resort to making my own from branches, or the plants will break from the weight. Alot of rain this year, lots of veggies, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, but no figs!
