A Google search yielded nothing but pictures. My best guess is that this was part of Benchmade's Red line.

Bad news; Sorry to report your knife isn't a real Benchmade. Hope it didn't cost very much.

I don't know much about Benchmades and I'm sure the OP is going to wonder so could you please explain what you are looking for to come to that conclusion?

Here's my $.02.

I knew someone was going to ask, But it's not appropriate to discuss the specifics of how I know this. What I will say is; There are companies over across the Pacific pumping out knives labeled as products of most, if not all all of the major players in the production knife business. To point out the details might make sense, unless you're working for some of these people and are reading this to learn how to do better, which makes it even harder to tell what's not real vs. what is.

Bottom line: Know Your Product. (I can't say it any simpler.)

The quality of these fakes, knockoffs, and copies has gotten much better in this few years...such that companies like Benchmade receive substantial numbers of these un-real knives for servicing and it's a big problem for many of the makers.

Edited to say: I agree with the above.

To point out exactly what or how you can spot a fake runs the real danger of helping the people who are producing these fakes refine or do a better job.

If ever in doubt, in addition to posting here you can always e-mail BM and they will be more then happy to identify your knife for you and tell you if it's real or not.

OK - I'll take the heat for this; While I'm not going to point out the details, here's a (near) copy; and a very good one, next to a real Benchmade. I handled this one and it's pictured next to the real one I still own. The blade steel is actually unknown and it (the copy) looks good, but the overall quality wasn't there...and this goes back a couple of years ago, "they've" gotten better at this stuff:

...and lastly, can you spot the (near) copy, even if as labeled it's NOT?

My advice: study the catalogs from past production. Go to the official Benchmade site. Log on to the company Forum, there's a sub-forum that is there to talk about this problem. Hope this helps...it's late here, been a long day.

Looks like a not even released yet ZT0888 phonie branded as BM. That sucks.

Doesn't it!?? As soon as I saw it I thought "whoaaa!! Benchmade is taking a page from Microtech's playbook?? No!!" I'm incredibly happy that's not the case here. This is so very bizarre.

I almost crapped myself before I realized it was fake:eek:

I am pretty sure the 300sn was benchmades first flipper. So the flipper on that one is a dead giveaway that its a fake.
Sorry about your luck. Hopefully you bought it cheap
