This is the closes to a "new" knife I have bought recently since I have been dwelling on old vintage folders of late.
I had been wanting a Doctor's pattern since seeing a Rough Rider Doctor's Knife at a flea mkt a few weeks ago. I had hoped for a vintage Case or a new Queen or Remington but I ran up on this newer Case today at a good price. It is made in 2001 and has a set of bone handles I really like.
This is the PERFECT size and shape for front pocket carry. I see this thing hogging a lot of my rotation :) This is the newest Case I have owned and I have to say I am surprised at how good the fit and finish is. I was under the impression that after the 70's Case quality took a nosedive but this thing seems to be VERY well made to me....maybe I should take a closer look at other newer Case brand knives.

Case quality did decline in the 80s and early 90s, but if you like that one I think you will be pleased with their offerings of the last decade or so.

Here is my one and only specimen of a Doctor's knife.... This one being a Queen Classic model, it having the secondary spatula blade. This is my only Queen made knife with a pinned in shield :-)

You've made me go back with old memories when my grandfather used it to crush pills with the squared butt cap. Thank you.

I traded for a Case Doctor's Knife some time back. I'd always wanted one of the pattern, but was a bit underwhelmed when it arrived. Thought it would grow on me, but never did. I've seen some older AG Russell models on eBay that look quote attractive and I'm confident of the quality to expect. I've also seen some pretty examples from Queen but never pushed the button.

I'd love to find one with the spatula and a nicer-grade stainless steel for a reasonable price.

I liked the Doctor's knife pattern so much I couldn't resist this little Frost Cutlery model to go along with my Case.
It is marked both "Pakistan" and "German Stainless" ....how it can be both I don't know unless they take German metal to Pakistan to make into knives. Either way it was cheap and feels nice.

the handles on that case look very nice.
i like my yellow rough rider doctors knife although the 'snap' when it closes is not all it might be.
if i were to turn into a collector the doctors knife might well be the pattern for me. although, you know, that might not be the case tomorrow. which is why im an accumulator, i guess. lol

I am thinking about collecting only doctor's knives from here onward....I like the pattern that much. I believe the next I will look for will be a Remington and then maybe a vintage Case.
