I got the Triflex and an 'ol No. 1. I went to the SMKWs Rep day, and found a couple of Moras I wanted. Rose Marie was there, along with the designer of the Mora 2000 and the new Bushcraft series, his names escapes me righ now. They were some very nice folks, and it was interesting getting to hear about why the dramatic grind on the 2000 and the Bushcrafts. I didn't know, but is for spreading butter and jams on bread. Cool.

Anyhoo, I went for an quick overnighter last night, got to play with the Moras. They rock of course. I didn't take pics while I was there (I know, it didn't happen) but I will get some of the blades later after I get settled in. What got me was the ergos on the new handle of the Triflex Bushcraft. REALLY comfy and good grip. I batoned some red oak and cedar. Carved a bow drill kit and whittled on everything insight. Me likes, alot.

My bow drill FAILED horribly, but I was sitting by a fire making it and playing with it, so, no big, I need to work on it anyway. My board was too thick, my wood to wet(soft), and my V notch needed some work. All in all, pretty shoddy work indeed. I did have fun making it, but I used my firesteel to light my fire (cedar bark tinder). I also had a bic in my pocket and a mini bic in my ASK, and .......... you get it, right?

That Bushcraft Triflex is worth a look if you don't have one, and for $10 (sale), I feel like I got one helluva deal.

I froze my butt off. I was hammocked up with a wool blanket, and a Columbia liner and shell, jeans, and boots. I was fine for most of the night, but I got COLD in the early morning. I wanted to see what I was in for next weekend, and believe me, I'm gonna have some more with me than that. I think it got in the low 40's.

Thanks ya'll and I'll put some pics in later.

Ya, that early morning has been getting frosty around here too. I leave my windows open pretty much year round-even though I can't be outside 100% of the time at least I can feel like I am-and the last few mornings I woke up around 4AM to grab another blanket. The desktop PC sure is liking the cooler temperatures. I should have really gone for at least an overnighter this weekend, I've been bored watching TV shows. Great...Grrr... next week maybe. I've got a handy new Back Daimond Orbit tent lantern so I can do homework once the sun goes down...

Can you use the spine of the Triflex blades to strike a firesteel? I gotta check out those new bushcraft blades, and the Topq allround, I like the looks of em both.

No, its still rounded, I gotta square it. The designer I talked to, said that the knives were designed with spine strikes, but I don't see it. Perhaps on the forest and signlal, but not on the Triflex. The edge rolled a little (factory) at the tip while I was making a divot for a bow drill in soft cedar. Not that it matters, but I split some red oak and hickory, and whittled some on it, no repercussions there. I notch cut some cedar, and red oak, no worries there either.

With the weight, handle, and tougher steel (2.5mm thick), it would be a go to knife in every aspect. Plus the handle ergos are sweet. I used it solid for about 2hrs, and my hand cramped a little, but I still have some issues with my hand, not the knife.
