Picked up a couple of Schrades today in Lynchburg

Took the wife and son to Lynchburg, Tennessee today to eat at a joint called Miss Mary Bobo's. Pretty good eats and a nice, down home atmosphere with family style dining. Good food and good conversation.

But afterwards, we strolled down the road and the first antique shop we hit my son took about 15 seconds to find the knives. There were about five Uncle Henrys in the small display and I asked the lady to let me gander at them. Junior wanted to buy them all, using my cash or credit of course.

I noticed the guthooks and asked to see two models that were identical. She pulled them out and they were factory fresh. No marks on the blades, no pocket lint, and factory grease still filled the joints. Not a mark on them.

The story she told showed me that she knew a little about the Schrade line. She said these were from a collector that never carried his knives. She knew that Schrades were made in China now and was quick to tell me these were USA models.

Went ahead and bought them both. No boxes or papers though. Oh well, a good day trip and a nice find. We didn't have the 877UH model.

Nice find on those! THey can be hard to come by. I'm with Larry wondering what else they had that you left behind.

She had a Schrade Cope Copenhagen two blade model (wanted too much for it), a four blade Congress model Boker (priced at 65.00/not sure what kind of deal that was), two that looked to be 12UHs (both priced at 45.00) and I think an 804uh. These three smaller ones had the little swivel thingie that you could clip to something. She had 45.00 stickered on just about all the Uncle Henrys. I was actually able to talk her down a little on the two 877uh models.

I would have liked to buy the others but the budget would not allow it. I plan on going back to tour the J. Daniels distillery and may pop in and see what she has then.

Great little town. Too much JD merchandise filling the shops though. Would have liked to seen more knives, of course. There wasn't a Case blade anywhere we looked which I found kind of odd.

Love the hunt for the Schrades. Usually our favorite part of trips.

Thanks for sharing. I hadn't seen the 877UH before. I'm sure they're listed and in the gallery but I've overlooked them until now. Thanks again.

Yeah, I had never seen one in person but had seen the occasional one pop up on the bay. Doing a quick "completed listings" search show that they go from 50 on up to nearly a hundred in various shapes of condition.

Now the hunt for a box and papers. Times two. lol

 Nicely done. The 877UH is pretty hard to come across. Nice drive over to Lynchburg from Chattanooga. The distillery tour is first class. What a bonus to score a couple of those. You were smart to not pay that much for the others. Not as uncommon.

Thanks for the info Trailhawk.

Yeah, we are going back for the distillery tour.

I got both Uncle Henrys for 80.00 and figured that was a fair price.

That is a very good price.

Yeah, best I can tell from the collectors of Schrades r us site is that they made these in 1990 and 1991 and the suggested retail was 34.95.

I figured 40 bux a pop was a good deal for me.
