Went to the Shepherd of the Hills Case Gathering yesterday with Joe. Good trip, great company and a lot of knives. :D

I've been wanting a few Case knives in CV steel with bone, so I picked up three. I'm really impressed with the new Case knives. Very good stuff!

There was also a knife maker there, so I picked up one of his slips. Pretty nice work but can't remember his name. Has 440V on the back of the tang and what appears to be ivory for scales. I'll just have to carry it awhile and see if it cuts.

What do y'all think?

Damn show off!!!! :p:cool:

Nice haul, Don!!

Nice........I'm curious about the custom. Let us know how it does, if you do decide to use it.

Now that was a great trip. :D.

That looks like something out of Wilfred Works to me. :)

I'm really impressed with the swayback jacks. I picked one up recently and can't be more pleased. I like the look of your scales better than mine.

Enjoyed the trip, Don. Great looking folders you came home with. You got the last one that custom maker had, darn you! I even ask him to check his pockets, and he was carrying a 5 1/2-inch Case toothpick, none of his work. His swayback looks like it might cut well. Guess I'll need to find out his name, 'cause I like that little ivory folder a lot!

I think the little custom swayback will be fine. The guy seems to know what he's doin :)

Funny thing, Joe and I were shopping knives separately. When we compared our knives later, we each had three and they were the exact same patterns, all CV also. Too cool...

Lol, Don. I am not sure about that ivory one either. If it doesn't make cut, heck, just send it right over. ;-)

God Bless

In kindergarten, when you showed off, you had to share. ;) Good stuff - can't wait to get back there and get to SMKW with my dad, and anyone else we can sucker into going. (THAT won't be hard to do . . . :D )

thx - cpr

It killed me not to go this year, just not enough funds.

Did they still have the $30 tables with people fighting to get to the front? What did the selection there look like? I wondered if it would be all small knives since you just can't find a knife for $30 anymore; or a bunch of nicer patterns since Case would be trying to move a lot of old stock...

Knifeswapper, yeah they had $30 tables, $25, $35 tables also. Very good selection too. I live one hour away and this was my first time there. I'm usually at the Chicago show on this weekend but didn't go this year.

I'll let you guys know how the little custom does.

I love stories with happy endings. Looks like a good time was had by all and I bet you really like how that "no name custom" knife cuts....just a guess.;)

All very nice:thumbup:! I'm now wanting to expand my Case collection, and can't decide weather to collect by bone(chestnut) or pattern(canoe)!

Great haul, Don, though I am not at all sure about that white one. Could be some kind of synthetic handle material. I would be careful buying anything from those unknown makers--how do you know that knife is gonna hold it's value? Anyway, those customs...what can they do that the factory knives can't? Cutting is cutting, right?

(I am so effing jealous that my liver is broiling..........:D)

The little custom is nice but I'm really excited about the Case knives.;)

Goin to take the small blade out of one of these Swayback jacks for a friend in a day or two.
Will make a nice slim package. If his turns out, I may do it to mine :D

Don, that Ivory thing is a cheap Chinese knock-off. I'd be happy to dispose if it for you if you could just send to me.
