Having little actual money to spend on my collection, ive been doing a lot of trading, and have traded my way into a few new customs.
The first, I don't yet have a large pic of yet, but you can see one my tradee took of it, I'm a big fan of C. Dake, this one is a gorgeous double action auto, 4" blade of intricate spiral damascus forged by none other than Charlie's wife Mary, the flush, perfectly fitted brown pearl escutcheon on the killer white pearl is actually the covert release for the auto feature, works great manually too, amazing action, zero play and smoooooth, amazing pearl, amazing knife! I hope to take some pics today, was rained out yesterday here in sunny Florida.
Next up is a way cool TnT, I have wanted a large stellite or talonite hawkbill, but there aren't many hawkbills out there, and even fewer that are over 3" in length, and I have huge hands, so, when I saw this one, I had to get it, traded a sweet Henchman, but what can I say, I had to have this TnT, and it's awesome! 3.5" Stellite hawkbill blade with unsharpened upper swedge/grind, sharp as a mofo, awesome handle ergos and shape with the rare "MOA" hole pattern, for those of you non-shooters, its what your target looks like, or should look like at the rifle range when shooting high power rifles at 100+ yards.
To the untrained eye however (wife's) looks like a knife with holes that look like they were put there randomly with an insanely strong hole puncher.
But we know better, dont we...
I love the pattern. Action is smooth even for a Tnt and that's saying something.
Next up, a Strider custom SLCC in S30V with the Nightmare grind recurve blade. Very sweet edge on this knife.
Next is my first Kious, I am a sucker for this particular bolster material, a multi-bar composite twist, by Eggerling i think it is, and I love nice pearl, and have wanted a Kious for a while, especially as I get more interested in lockbacks, so, I traded for this as well, lots of nice knives shipping away from me lately, but it was time for some new blood.
Cant wait to see and photograph this litle gem when I get it.
Well, trading can be fun, if you spend about 22 hours a day obsessing about which knives you can part with, and somehow, the answer is always, none, but you need that new knife even more...
