During my ebay searches, I came across a interesting variation of the 8OT model. Its your stock 8OT, but it was made for the True Value hardware chain under the Master Mechanic label. The tang is stamped MM8 over USA, those are the only stampings on any of the blades, and the shield is a oval with Master Mechanic on it. Its still in the clampack(I despise these things) and on the back of the pack it says 1989, made in the USA by Schrade Cutlery. Best of all I got it for only 8$ plus shipping, not a bad deal these days. So there's another lesser known brand that we can look for to find some Schrade made knives. I'm putting this one back for one of the kids, I already have mine. Also picked up one of those green handled Imperial made camp knives for my son, its a pretty good knife from what I can see. It'll be a good first knife for a boy. Might have to get one for myself, although I prefer SAKs for this type of knife.

How cool, and a bargain as well. Lots and lots of these off the wall Schrades are hitting the market. Very interesting variations for a collection. This kinda reminds me of the olden days when huge hardware chains would sell knives with their own brand upon them... knives made by now very collectible names. Great find!
