Had a guy wanting to get rid of a Case Trapper today. Since I am THE knife guy at my work. I ended up trading him for a Leek. Believe it is a 2000 model if my figuring right?

Not my first trapper but could'nt pass up a good deal. He was really happy with the leek he has never had a flipper and it was just sitting in a box at the house.

Nice trade. Most of the guys I work with carry cheap Chinese knives that they just throw away when they break. Nothing really there to look at trading for.

The trapper pattern is really starting to grow on me. There is a gun show in town this weekend and I'm going to be looking for Camillus brand knives there. I live in Camillus, NY and I would like to pick some up as a remembrance of the fine cutlery that used to be made here. I'm hoping to be able to find a trapper pattern or two while I'm there.

Enjoy your new friend.

John

Sorry about the "older" comment guys. Only middle 30's myself so you will have to forgive me. Maybe "used" would be a better word. LOL

I understand how you arrived at 2005 with the five Xs and no dots, but I have another question about dating.

I don't want to hijack the thread, so whoever can assist me can simply point me to a link or answer in a pm.

Based on the dating system as I understand it my mini copperhead and peanut (both made in November 2011) could be misread as having a 2001 date code since they have five Xs and four dots.

So, was the move to put three Xs above the logo instead of below the way to differentiate between 2000 and 2010 era knives?
