Got this on ebay. May have overpaid for it's condition BUT I don't own a vintage Queen and have never owned a Queen City. I think it will clean up fairly well.
From best I can tell this is a Depression Era knife. Anyone know what the model was called? Also it is listed as "Stag" but I think it is some type bone scales.

I saw that Queen and was going to bid on it. Glad a forum member got it.

I kept thinking someone would outbid me on it but I lucked out :) I have only owned one old Pre-Queen Steel Queen before and that was when I was a younger man and didn't appreciate it as I should and traded it off.

I bought one of the recent Queen City productions and was quite impressed. On par with GEC, and just as nice as the best File & Wire models.

Just an FYI to anyone who didn't win the auction for that original. ;)

This was the filthiest knife I have ever seen! It came in the mail today and looked like it had spent 50 years buried with a corpse.
The bolsters were quite rusty when I started as were the blades. No idea what kind of bone the scales are.
This is the best cleaning I can do on it but it sure takes a good edge!

I have one just about identical.

The bone scales on mine are worn real smooth from being carried so much.

Great snag.

I love the look of the well worn bone like that. I saw a Queen just like that one at the Oregon knife show--it was not in nearly as good of shape.

This one looks rough but it functions great. Plenty of snap and the blades sharpened easily and VERY sharp. Good steel.

Looking still cleaner! I keep seeing this same knife in the "Big Q" version at swap meets but still have never seen another Queen City stamped example.

I believe my knife is a #10 Heavy Jack. Anyone know if this is correct?

Yes, you're correct. The #10 Heavy Duty Jack has a Clip main blade, the #18 has a spear. 3 3/4" closed.
I also have a #10 and it's my EDC for work.

Edit....What I find interesting is that Jim Sargent's book "Knives & Razors" lists two sizes for the #10 Queen Heavy Duty Jack...3 11/16" and 4 1/8". You would think there would be two different numbers because of the two sizes.

Here's my #10. Mine doesn't have a tang stamp. Instead, it's main blade is etched with Queen "Q" Cutlery in script (it's very faint). The Q between Queen & Cutlery is their large Q. 3 3/4" closed.

Cleaned up as best I can get it. Lots of scars on the blade. Previous owner must have butchered hogs with it. Still solid though
