Picked up a really nice variable speed buffer at blade show...

Very cool....I would like a variable speed model myself. Palmgren has always been a good brand for vices and such, but do they make these in China now?

They are a usa based company but I think they have some products made both stateside and overseas. This buffer was made in Taiwan according to the box

Comes w/ a 3 yr warranty though so that's cool

Nice looking unit, and I can see plenty of advantage to VS. That scares me mounted to a bench like that, though. Belt high ricochet. YMMV...

Yeah I've gotta build a guard. It's super rare I ever use it for blades though.

Leather apron. My first buffer, I had a good foot higher than yours. And, of course, I learned the hard way about how buffers can grab. I can still see, in my mind's eye, that blade standing straight out from my chest, point first, in that millisecond it hit. Leather apron saved me from some problems that day and I went out and bought a Baldor and stand the next. LOL Skeered me good.

More I think about VS, the more I like that idea. Enjoy the benefits, Josh.

Thanks man, yeah I'll be using at slow to medium speed mostly anyway.... The 900rpm setting is very slow and offers a LOT of control.

A fair warning indeed!
