Could have gotten on sooner but I wanted to support my local brick and mortar cutlery store. The manager said he would email me when they got some in and true to his word I got an email from him yesterday. Went in this morning and took one off his hands. Pretty excited-this is my first CR folder.

Do those of you that carry these usually keep or ditch the lanyard? I'm thinking it is coming off.

Congratulations on your first!

I kept the lanyards on all four of mine....to me, they look nice, and don't seem to get in my way.

Perhaps it's because of my gigantic hands....had never really thought about it before, but on my small Insingo's, my pinkie finger just naturally wraps around the lanyard when I open or close the knife. YMMV, obviously.

Nice choice for your first:thumbup: The lanyard will become a personal preference, it is very one way or the other for most people here! I am personally a no lanyard guy, the first thing I do upon receiving a new CRK toy is take the lanyard off. Why not leave it on for awhile and see what you think? It will be easier to take it off later and leave it off than to remove it now and decide later you want it back.

Congrats on the knife, the small 21 is a perfect EDC blade in my opinion.

Much like most here the first thing I do is take off the lanyard when I receive a CRK. Take it off and if you decide you'd rather have it on there's a tutorial on how to tie a lanyard on CRKs website.

Mr. Jerry. . . Congratulations on taking the step to CRK--you will hopefully enjoy the knife as well as enjoy the time spent here in the CRK forum. Lanyards--personal preference is the only answer. I like the fancier lanyards with the titanium beads, but they are just an optional accessory for me.

One puzzling thing about your post though: NO PICS?! You cannot announce to a room full of ladies that you just had the birth of a new child or grandchild and not have pictures to show; as such, you cannot post in the CRK forum that you just picked up your fist CRK without posting pics! (Everone is well-aware that they all look generally the same, but we are addicts and need the eye-candy regardless!)

congrats! I still remember as if it was yesterday the day I finally pulled the trigger on my first Sebenza (which was also a small). All I could think while it was in transit to me was "I hope I don't regret it, I hope I don't regret it, I hope I don't regret it..."

Now I own several of them :)

I take the Lanyard off all my Sebenza's - I don't particularly like them on that knife. I have them on a few traditional slipjoints, but I never use them on my modern flippers.

Again congrats and enjoy the new blade.

I take the lanyards off. I have two CRKs...a large regular Seb and a Zaan. With the Zaan, when I was removing the lanyard, the lanyard 'barrel' thing just fell out, too. My older Seb only had the lanyard holes, not the 'barrel'. Now my Zaan is that way, too. I prefer them with only the lanyard holes, but no lanyard attached.

Congrats on your first. Glad the manager got back to you, and a good example of customer service. My local shop will say they'll call you about something they get in for you but never do.

When I used to carry mine clipped, the lanyards had to go. Now that I've removed the clip and carry that way, I like the lanyard for ease of extraction.

Don't I know you from the Busse side of things, Jerry? Yea, just got my first Sebenza last week, and wouldn't ya' know it, having another one shipped today, and bidding on yet another one on that other E forum. Something as addicting as Bussekins? Gott im Himmel!...;-)

And....no lanyard.

Congrats on your first CRK.
I usually remove the lanyard and pin and tie a paracord lanyard around the rear spacer.

If you have an addictive personality and you catch the CRK bug, you're in trouble ;)
