I had seen several Surefires on the web and always thought they were WAY WAY overpriced.

So I was combing the counters and saw one, decided to pay with. I was pretty impressed, very nice locking system and a very very smooth action. I can unlock and flip it open and closed very easily without needing to use the thumb stud and it locks up very very tight.

So needless to say I was interested but scared on the price. So I asked the guy how much it was and he picks up the box and I see:

I raise my eyebrow but say nothing. He confers with his buddy and tells me, '$90 cash'.

I did a quick Google-fu and saw how much they go for ( I knew they were really overpriced) and figured I'd be silly to let that deal go. Still, I told them I would think about it.

I didn't make it another few rows before I had to have it.

I'll have to grab a video if I can to show how smooth the action is on it.

This combined with my $20 used Skyline (posted in the Kershaw section) and it was a VERY VERY good day at the gunshow.

What's the little protrusion at the top when the knife is opened? Some kind of release mechanism? Looks like an interesting piece. Looking forward to the vid.

The protrusion is actually the lock. You pull back on it to unlock it and close it. The action is so smooth that you can pull back on it and flip it closed without using your fingers.

Same thing on open. You can use the thumb studs and open it fairly easily but if you pull back on the lock you can just flip it open without using the thumb stud.

Let's see if I can embed photobucket vids. This is my first knife review vid and it was hard to go slow so that's why it looks odd at times.

Be gentle.

I'm very impressed with this knife the more I mess with it. As long as you are pulling back on the lock the blade moves very very freely. As soon as you let go of the lock it tightens up nicely. The lockup is solid and there is a nice detent keeping it closed.

Very interesting lock. Had me fooled. I thought when closed, the protrusion was a flipper tang.

Looks like a cool knife, seems like the price on all their knives is more reasonable now. The Echo fixed blade was around $300 but is selling for about $150 now - pretty good for materials and quality you get. Might be the first 3V blade I try out.

Neat find! I'm sure it's very well made based on my experiences with their flashlights, but the styling and oddly high price really turns me off of their knives. They look like they were designed by School of Sanrenmu dropouts or something...

I've been curious about their knives before. Hopefully this is an indicator that they're coming down in price.

They are still $180 on Amazon. The cheapest I have seen them online is $130. At $130 I'd say it's on the edge of being worth the price but I think they would fly off the shelves at under $100.

It's not for me. The lock release looks like it's in a bad spot. That's where I'd wanna put my thumb. But, if you like it, cool!

I think you should play with one before completely dismissing it. Granted, I haven't had a chance to carry it (it will supplant my Leatherman E33L as my EDC) but the lock release isn't a push down, it's a pull back and down. It also doesn't go back that easily. I think it would be pretty hard to release it while using it.
