Found this on the big auction site

now for the unique part

and even strangness no edge both blade have never been sharpned

I have collected Kabar 1184's since I was old enough buy a knife on my own. In fact the 1184 was the first knife I purchased I have been concentrating on BUCKS for the last decade or so. So I had to have this one

Neat knife and a good find. Unsharpened is really neat. It was a standard Camillus pattern and they made contract knives for others including Kabar and Buck. Wouldn't be so unusual to mix up identical blades with different tang stampings. How about an employee's "lunchbox" knife who planned to sharpen it after he got it home.... Also, alot of knives were assembled from parts bought at auction after Camillus's closing. There have been a number of put together Millenium trappers on the market for awhile.

I was thinking a factory oops...didnt think about a parts knife. Dosent seem to be ahome reblade as the pivot pin is very well done very hard to see

Did all the 317's have a lanyard hole? Very few of the 1184's I have seen have the bolster drilled

I'm going to have to agree with Roger (DesoctoSky) on this one, Probably a parts knife from the Camillus factory. I don't think it's a reblade, based on the look of the bolster and pin. The knife could possibably have been an oops but knife but I'm guessing its all intentional.

I would have grabbed that one if found, to go in the odd-ball collection.

The blade pin 'looks' well placed, maybe factory ? The pin by the lanyard hole, how come it looks different in the photos. Is it brass ? Notice the double strike on the spring pin, in some worlds that would make it a blem. Being a Kabar person can you harken a guess on the time period of the Kabar blade ?

Here is my first opinion, subject to change, knife is either a factory mistake, after market blade replacement or a lunch-box knife. The folks who bought parts and have been making knives we have all seen for sale after factory 'estate sale' , were actually made by a Camillus factory craftsmen who bought the parts and moved their craftsmanship to the house. It would be presenting itself in a much higher quality condition if they had fixed it up. I.E. - no brass spring pin double strike, bolsters well polished and saw-cut scales much cleaner looking. The above knife looks like it has handling marks.

Will be interested in the pin description.......300
