After getting a Marksman, I decided to buy Vantage Pro. I ordered two because of my Marksman experience and because I was going to give one as a gift. Well one was perfect. Centered blade, scales lined up....just a really well done knife. The other not so much. The lock did not engage without slamming the blade open, and even then it was a 50/50 chance. The slightest push on the spine would close the knife. So I sent it in to Buck. But, afterwards I saw a few vids showing how to possibly fix the issue yourself.....which I should of tried.

Anyhow, I really like the Vantage Pro. I dig the grip and blade design. Been EDCing it since Friday.

Glad to hear more positive views on the Marksman. Want to add 1 more EDC to the pile. Only other one I am considering is the Benchmade 665 assist. Both are appealing.

very sweet blade that vantage pro. I have one from the first run. Mine was slightly off but after some tinkering I got it just about perfect. it's smooth and can close shut with a with smooth shakes like a ZT say. I just scored the first avid version with the 13c steel and the charcoal diamond wood scales too, can't wait to get my hands on that one, it sure seems like a looker :)

I truly cannot say enough about mine. I carry the cheaper 420hc knife with the dymondwood scales that Walmart had a few years back. The knife is perfect. Perfectly centered, flips and opens smoothly, holds its edge as well as AUS8, perfect size, feels very solid, cuts deep with the blade geometry, smooth but not slippery grip, and doesn't tear up the pockets. Lots of good high end knives out there, but I think Buck deserves more attention and respect than they get.

Glad you got both in good shape now.:thumbup::thumbup:

I'm a big fan of the Vantage, but don't care for the Marksman for some reason.
I especially like the Vantage Pro!
