Actually I got 2, one of the newer standard models with the "natural" anodized finish and one of the older ones with black finish.
Seeing as how I opened these and started looking at them during the day in a well-lit room, it was hard to really gain a tremendous amount of appreciation for the lights themselves. I liked the newer finish a little more than the older black one, though neither in particular was ugly. They're not really works of art either, but much more nicely executed than what could probably be expected of typical lights (probably part of the cost factor too). I dropped in the standard batteries that came with each and decided to try out the beams.
While they don't fill a room with light or anything, they certainly are blinding little LEDs. I painted the wall a few feet away with each of them to compare beams. They seem to have somewhat comparable brightness and both had a little bit of blue (I attribute that probably just to the fact that they're LED lights), but the newer one was much more obviously blue. I've heard about the different LEDs that were used between models and I guess this is a good example of that.
I kinda wish I could see an "optimal" Arc AAA (best LED they offer, B1S or whatever it is) and see how either of mine compare. I think mine are perfectly fine little lights, though like most folks here, I want to sneak into the top range of the QC scale.
Since I don't have much to compare to (no Photons or anything here, this is actually the only flashlight I have), Perhaps I am not fully appreciating what I got. It's pretty cool though. Should I get a kydex rig for it or should I just get a Berkley Point clip? It's kinda annoying being a more-or-less permanent attachment to my keys, though it's handy having it there as a fob (I don't have a fob otherwise).
